CJ's Cakes & Catering — Restaurant in Hartsville

I have done business with CJs when they were located in Florence and loved them so much that when they closed I drove to the Hartsville location for specialty cakes. I have been ordering cakes from them for the longest for my kids birthdays. I tried to order one for a November birthday party and the staff pretty much told me they were busy and didn’t have time to fill the order that I wanted. I decided to try them again for my daughter’s birthday. I was able to get an order placed. My only problem this time is that I ordered over the phone and the staff were not friendly at all. Even when I tried to call and ask a question they didn’t seem friendly. I felt like I was rushed and didn’t get all my questions answered with the attention I felt I should get when spending over $100 for a cake as well as driving from Florence to a Hartsville. I called the morning of pickup and asked a question. I may have spoken to the owner (I’m not sure) but that individual was very friendly. I never told my mother about how unfriendly I felt the staff were prior. However, when she left there she called me and told me that the young lady that helped her was not too friendly which led me to this review. On a positive note the cake was delicious as always. The 3-stars is due to the unfriendliness and how rushed I felt when placing my order and asking questions and I felt this way more than once. Sure wish the Florence location...

I don't even want to give them one star! I ordered a cake for my son's birthday, I had called on the phone. I explained having to work 12 hour days so hard to get in. I had an unexpected day off on a Saturday so went in to pay for the cake and talk to the person who was going to decorate it. She wasn't there and my cake was not listed in their book, so I ordered another and paid. I got phone calls saying I can't get the cake until paid for, I explained at least twice that I paid for it. Lines were crossed and not very good communication between employees. Very disappointed and if I had time to get another cake somewhere else I would have. Too much confusion....they made two cakes!!!! I just wanted a cake...

Ordered $45 (2 dozen each) of nutty fingers and cheese straws. They were a third or less the size of what is typically there and what I sampled last week. When I talked to the person up there about getting it fixed or getting my money back, I was told that fine, have your money, I dont have to change my products for anyone or be consistent, people will buy what I have out no matter the price.
