Costello’s Famous Roastbeef, Seafood & Pizza — Restaurant in Haverhill

Messed up my order then when I wanted a refund because I couldn't wait any longer, they shouted across the restaurant from behind the food line that there are starving people in the world. Really!!!, that happened!, and he said it repeatedly when I requested a refund to pay for the part of my order that had been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes getting cold. I have to use credit card dispute to rectify this. First and last visit occurred today. Good customer service is just as important as good food. I am a 45 year old educated man that knows a lot about the world, its plight, and do more for others than myself. So much for "the customer is always right". Do the universe a favor and spend your money elsewhere in a restaurant where they have more respect.

Updated: There was no respect shown to me when the owner yelled across a crowded restaurant, lecturing about others in the world that are without food. I will gladly donate money to the world food bank today. I did not agree to pay for your mistake, or to leave with food for 1 when an order for 2 was placed.

This is not the first review calling out that you are rude when problems arise. As a business owner you might want to consider taking some soft skills training on how to calmly, politely, and discretely resolve issues. I am sure to the others in the restaurant today, your behavior was not...

We had french fries, a fish sandwich and a roast beef sandwich with mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. The roast beef was the driest and least flavorful I have ever experienced, even with the sauce. I took four bites and threw the rest away. I couldn't eat it. The fish sandwich and the french fries were OK

We were there at noon on a weekend. There were no condiments or salt on the tables. They had a small shelf with two sticky bottles of squeezable ketchup and two sets of salt and pepper shakers near the cash register. I used the ketchup on my fries, but had to wash my hands before eating. The patrons are apparently supposed to use these items at the shelf. One customer didn't get the message and took the ketchup to his seat. A sign discouraging this would be helpful.

Service was adequate. They got our order right, but the person taking our order clearly wanted to be elsewhere. While there were four people in the kitchen working, there was no talking, and everyone had the same look on their face as the person taking our order. It just felt strange.

I've eaten here a few times and have always received good food. Service is decent, although could improve somewhat. I've tried the 3-way roast beef sandwich, which was really good! Their golden BBQ chicken sandwich is definitely my favorite so far! So delicious I could get it once a week truthfully, I highly recommend! Burgers are decent, what you'd expect to find at a friend's bbq or something. Chicken tenders are good, fries are okay. Salads are delicious! I've tried the chicken Caesar salad and the beef tip Caesar salad and both were worth getting! Steak tips were so tender and flavorful as was the chicken, big slices of parmesan cheese and a decent lettuce mix! Dressing was good. The roast beef was also very tender and good. Great specials sometimes. I definitely think they are worth checking out and I would highly recommend the golden chicken sandwich if you like gold fever style bbq sauce! I will be return for it myself, as well as to try more from them! I do wish they had a better drink...
