This place can be real busy but I'm really not sure why. Scratch tickets, keno, basic beer and cocktails. I live nearby but will never go back. This place seems to have high turnover and will hire just about anyone. Bartenders can be extremely rude. Too many bad experiences. Recently I was served a beer and then the bartender forced me to give it back to him and refused to serve my group. We had just gotten there and were sober and very polite as always. It was early in the evening and was like a scene from the twilight zone. We just wanted to play keno and have a beer like we had many times before with no issues. He refused to serve one of us because she had a NY ID and he said he doesn't take out of state IDs. When I asked if there was any problem with the ID he became belligerent and told us he can do whatever he wants and that he would take my drink away. He went from 0 to 100 in one second. What kind of bar refuses out of state IDs? I'd add that the bar is located on the NH/MA border so this is an impossibility if you want to stay in business. His attitude was as bad as it gets. He certainly was very angry from the minute we got there. My opinion is that he was wasted on something. I'm in my 40s and I have never seen anything like it and probably never will again. When I asked for his name he refused to tell me and when I asked to speak with a manager he said that he was the manager and again he said that he could do whatever he wants. He must have said that 5 times. No explanation, just refused us service. Wow. Honestly it was the worst bar/restaurant experience that I've ever had in my life. Completely perplexing. It was as if he was looking for a fight. Honestly, the bar is quite low brow and I'm not at all surprised. Consider looking elsewhere for a better plate of food, drink of overall experience. I for one will...
Read moreMr. Mikes is more than "just" a really great restaurant, as we discovered tonight. My husband and I were lucky enough to have Terry talking wonderful care of us. She is the 'waitresses waitress', you know, the one every waitress wants to emulate. She has forgotten more than most of today's "ordinary" waitresses ever learn. I decided on the Chicken Piccata and he chose the Prime Rib. We quite possibly chose two of the tastiest dishes available. Mouth-watering, and perfect in every way... I could go on and on about the capers and the cooked-to-perfection meals but I got caught up in the love at the table next to us. Tiffany, another waitresses waitress (two in one location: what are the odds?) was taking care of a gentleman named Carl. It was obvious that they knew each other well and that thrme diners at Mr. Mikes were treated like something very special. I couldn't help but feel the love and asked if I could share a picture of them together. Thankfully, they both agreed, as did our specialt waitress, Terry. What else can I say? Mr. Mikes has fantastic food at fantastic prices - served with love - and they treat you like family. I don't know how to put a price tag on that. You'll remember the taste of a good meal for awhile but you'll remember feeling surrounded by people who truly care about you for a very long time. If you're anywhere nearby, I'd recommend Mr. Mikes, because YOU deserve to...
Read moreSERIOUS UPDATE. WE WENT TO MR MIKE'S TUESDAY AND HAD A WAITRESS THAT NEEDS TRAINING. SERVICE WAS VERY SLOW, THEN AFTER OUR MEAL, WE HAD TO WAIT TILL SHE BROUGHT ME A BOX FOR LEFTOVERS. WHEN SHE CAME Out, she was carrying someone else's food and had our boxes open under her arm. Since we had been waiting long enough we just packed up our food left and threw them in the trash. DISCUSTING. The food is always fresh, tasty, and well prepared. Dinner for 2 option is a great value. No cheating on the food You get full dinner of your choice, coffee or tea and desert I did take away 1 star for the following reason. Wait times to be seated are nominal and expected especially on a busy night. But the wait time for food from when you place your order to when it arrives is very long. My wife and I waited over 50 minutes from the time we ordered to receive our meals, and while 1 meal was nice and hot, my turkey dinner was only Luke warm. So how long was it sitting on a tray? Today, we arrived at opening (11:30), and were 1 of 4 tables in the place. We ordered sandwiches which were outstanding, but again, to over 25 minutes on a non-peak time to receive our food. Funny thing is, the couple at the table next to us came in about 5 minutes AFTER WE ORDERED, and they had fried meals delivered first. I'm still trying to figure that out. Anyway, it's worth going, just be prepared to wait after ordering ...
