I used Door dash last night to order from the Roma. I called the restaurant @ 6 asking where my food was.Door dash told me my food left the restaurant at 535, and i live about 10-15 min from your restaurant. I was constantly interupted by Sandra. Food never came. Sandra called back about 10-15 min later asking if my food came, told her no. Told her it was dinner for me and my son. She said the owner would call me tomorrow because they feel bad and want to do something, I told her someone can re-prepare my order and deliver it, to which she chuckled. I'm not sure what exactly was funny about that... I hung up on her. I went out to get food, (Wendy's) when I Came home I called the restaurant asking to speak to a manager, (Jocelyn answered) I told her i was the girl who ordered door dash and never got my food. She wanted to know what happened and I was in the middle of explaining to her what happened when she interupted me with her comments. Why ask me what happened if you're going to interupt? I told her she was apparently more interested in her version of the story then mine and told her to have the owner call me tomorrow. An hour later, Sandra called me again. Im not sure why I got an additional call from the restaurant last night if you weren't going to do anything for me and you didn't want to hear what happened?
The owners nasty response today- Hi, Maria! You can go ahead and write your nasty review on yelp. It really saddens me to see how entitled people few nowadays. For you to feel that we’re responsible for the mistake made by a company with which we have no affiliation whatsoever just blows my mind. We cooked your food and handed it to the delivery person you hired to pick up and deliver it to you. If that company then failed to deliver your food to your house you should definitely take it up with them. If there was a problem with the food itself we’d most definitely take responsibility and take care of it for you. Now for you to expect us to cook another order for you and deliver at your house, which is a service we do not and have never offered, is something that just goes beyond my comprehension. Regardless of all that, the owner was willing to speak with you the next day, which you could not even wait for before posting your complaint on our website. Then, after your unfair review on Facebook was already posted, he calls you only to have you hang up on him. So, yes, please, go ahead and post your complaint on yelp like a child who throws a temper tantrum because she didn’t get the toy she wanted.
And here's my reply.... Review's been posted on yelp. Wasn't just the food, it was the lack of professional service from your restaurant as well. Your worker asked what she could do for me and i answered her. Im sorry you don't have the staff to accomodate a busy night. Please tell me what was unfair to you? You got paid for the food, your staff and you are nasty too. You guys called me numerous times last night and acted worse than my stalker ex bf with the amount of calls i got from your restaurant last...

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon at around 1:30pm. Hostess looked at us and asked "Two?", and we said yes, and she simply turned (no menus in hand...) and walked away from us, with no other words. So what are we supposed to do? Follow her, or wait? We waited, she got about halfway across the room, then turned and impatiently waved at us to follow her.
Waited about 10 minutes before the waiter came over (though he did wave to us as he walked by, telling us he'd be right with us.) He was very nice, but seemed like maybe he was filling in, as he was obviously inexperienced.
We weren't drinking alcohol, so got soda water & cranberry, and it had a strange taste to it -- drinkable, but something not right. Waiter confessed that he "had to mix it myself, and wasn't sure how much syrup to add". Wife ordered a bowl of French Onion soup and a French Bread pizza with pepperoni (waiter said "He'd see" if they could put pepperoni on it); I ordered Eggplant & Chicken Farm.
Pizza was underwhelming -- literally a 8" piece of french bread, sliced in half, with a paltry amount of red sauce and a sprinkling of mozzarella. No seasonings, that we could detect, and no pepperoni. We didn't bother to ask why no pepperoni, as from the waiter's demeanor, apparently that's not something they do (Why not?) Soup was good, but small -- really a cup, not a bowl.
My parm dish was similarly "meh" -- a couple of slices of what looked like frozen eggplant, with a couple of thin strips of battered chicken on top, covered with a bit of red sauce and mozzerella. Sauce had a tart, raw taste to it, like it hadn't cooked long enough. Pasta was served on the side, and was a tiny portion. Oh, and my dish came out 10 minutes after my wife's, as the waiter told me the cook had dropped the first plate and they had to cook another (I hope...)
Bill was around $45 bucks -- ok, but not great for the quantity of food we ordered, and considering we were drinking soft drinks.
Not that I wouldn't go back, but the entire experience was pretty underwhelming, and there are so many great choices in downtown Haverhill, that why would we...
Read moreThe Roma Restaurant in Haverhill is a beautiful restaurant alongside the Merrimack River. It offers an elegant, yet comfortable dining atmosphere. The Roma used to offer the most delicious Italian food, steaks and seafood. Their tomato sauce was amazing.
I had not been there for years as I was living in Florida for awhile. Recently, I went to the restaurant expecting a wonderful meal, but was SO disappointed. It is under new ownership. They promote their Prime Rib, so I decided that is what I would have. I ordered it Medium Rare. The beef was so tough and full of grizzle that it was very difficult to cut and almost impossible to chew. It was terrible. I told the waitress who was very pleasant and she took it away and offered to bring us Steak Tips instead, telling us that they are very tender and tasty. So, I agreed. After waiting another 20-30 minutes for the Steak Tips, I was once again, very disappointed. The Steak Tips were very tough again and impossible to chew. They had no flavor at all and the meat was like cheap stew beef pieces. I also had the "Rice Pilaf" which was like white rice that they added some chicken broth to. My girlfriend had a vegetable medley with her meal and the vegetables were barely cooked and hard and had no flavor. The waitress once again was very pleasant and apologetic. To try to please us, she brought over two complimentary grapenut pudding desserts. They were okay, but nothing to rave about. I really have to question what it is they are trying to sell as "beef" and even "steak". I am not exaggerating. It was disgusting as was the rice and the vegetables! People go to restaurants and pay big bucks expecting "High Quality Restaurant Food" and "Chef-Quality Meals". I cannot believe the owners sell that crap food and think it is good. They REALLY need a consultant to help them. They get an 8 for service but a 2 for the food, and I am being nice giving them a 2. Hey, the bread and the...
