The review I gave was on point, went to Kona Coffee & Tea 3 times before with my friends and never had a problem, actually decent service. I ordered breakfast, salmon/lox on toasted bagel and cappuccino previously, was great.
So, my last visit before heading to Honolulu, I decided one last time and getting a cappuccino to go. I asked politely, "may I have it to go?" The lady was around late 30's, blonde hair. She gave me a Wal-mart attitude, smile upside down due to either she was in the weeds or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She responded, "we're not a 5 star service coffee shop like in the mainland!"
She decided to pour my cappuccino to go in a dentist spit cup, size of a 1 shot. That is ridiculous, $6 coffee in a filmsly paper cup. I thought I was at the dentist office. Spit now and gargle. I asked to speak to the manager, but they never showed up. Very unprofessional and guess they were trying to hide if the embarrassment I was about to give them.
I just left, went to Safeway and bought a Dr. Pepper and headed to Kona Airport, better than their $6 cup of any coffee. Starbucks superior to their local coffee. Customer service lacking, management doesn't care and owner asking Yelp to delete my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith such a high rating, I wanted to try their coffee. I was torn between trying their basic drip coffee to get a feel of how it tastes or trying their Kona Bullet as I've made bullet coffee several times, but never tried one at a coffee shop. Impulsively I ordered the Kona Bullet. My wife then ordered a latte and found out from the cashier that they could make an iced latte... What?! I would have ordered an iced coffee if I knew it was available given it was humid and about 85 degrees. Oh well, I'll just taste her iced latte then...
I watched as my Kona Bullet was made and about a tablespoon of butter went into it. Wow, that's quite a bit of butter... I thought to myself. I did like the taste, but the coconut oil and butter completely overpowered the coffee so I couldn't really taste the coffee itself. I should have ordered the drip coffee...
We were seated outside so we could enjoy the surroundings. It was cute to see several geckos crawling about. The more I drank my hot drink, the more I sweated. Had a few sips of my wife's iced latte and it tasted great. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the humidity and temperature, and at this point, I thought: "I should have ordered an iced...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile on vacation, we stopped here to try it out. Staff was very friendly, place was clean and the girl offered up some suggestions when I asked. We ordered the hot Chai tea, it was great, not very hot but flavor was wonderful. I ordered myself the Mauna Kea Freeze hazelnut. I have to say this suggestion was right on point. This drink was soooo good, I admit it was way better than any Starbucks drink I have ever had, and I usually hit Starbucks up weekly. I like strong coffee and of course I like my drinks sweet and this hit the spot for both. So much so I ended up purchasing a bag of the dark roast coffee they made it with. I can guarantee I will stop here again for this drink, and probably splurge and try something else. I always say, can't go wrong trying something different. You never know what you would be missing. In this case I am very glad I bypassed Starbucks to try this place or I wouldn't have had the pleasure of trying and enjoying this drink. I would highly suggest stopping by and giving this place a try! If you read this review, please hit the like...
