Read moreMostly quite, unpopulated, narrow sandy (heavy, coarse sand) beach. Most always turtles (Honu) at you're feet in the shallows along the beach line, especially to the North (Sometimes at High Tide they'll (we've seen 7-10) be up out on the sand, resting, sleeping). The other direction, to the SW side of the cove/bay/inlet out to the point is SACRED, SPECIAL, HISTORICAL land. But walking out towards the point and prior to the point, is a very small 3-6 person beach cove with soft, fine sand, boarded by lava rocks on both sides and a superb location for relaxing, especially just before sunset. The beach is relatively close by car from downtown Kona (North about 3 miles. Go NORTH on the main highway. Turn off (LEFT) at the Honokohou Harbour (traffic light) and then right into the boat launch and wash down area past the shops and restaurant (Stay to the far RHS North side of the parking lot, near the Kona Yacht Club boat storage), park to the NW side of the lot. Have fun. I hope this spot receives the respect and care it deserves by those of us who take the time to visit/frequent this...

When you start walking out it after a bit it turns into rocks and then boulders and then really good snorkeling close in. So you have the sand beach vibe and also a snorkel vibe at the same place which seems rare. Also it’s popping, you can rent beach chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, etc at Kona Boys literally on the beach at a stand. Close to walk over and get snacks or drinks and then come back and chill. Good vibe for...
