Raul's Casa Sombrero — Restaurant in Hawthorne

I've been eating at Raul's for years now. It is one of those comforting little hole-in-the-wall-like places, where it's almost a secret, but all the locals know about it and go often. The food is "clean" as well as the restaurant. They have room for a large party of patrons, for birthdays etcetera. They have reasonable prices and most plates can feed two or be split into two meals depending on whether you eat a lot at one time or not. I smell the napkin and I'm full, so I take a lot home. The food comes to your table immediately when ready so it os ALWAYS super hot, and is simply delicious. The salsa is great; I like hot salsa, but sometimes it's not that hot. I rarely eat out especially Mexican food because I am Latino. We can cook it all at home. Someone recommended Rauls and I was compelled to try it. They start you with chips and salsa which is served as hot chips and a tasty, delicately spicy salsa. The menu is extensive with traditional plates soups and appetizers. I ordered the Carne tampequeña which comes with refried beans Spanish rice an enchilada and a piece of Carne asada topped with peppers and onions. The refried beans and Spanish rice lean American style. The enchilada had a home made taste. The sauce was bold with a cool flavor of heat but not spicy. The chicken was excellent. If you’re looking for the BEST mexican food in the area, look no further. Raul’s has been my go to spot for years now and it’s for good reason. It never fails to exceed expectations and heavily satisfies that craving that you’re looking for. My personal favorite that I highly recommend is their hot shredded beef enchiladas layered with a bed of sour cream with fresh rice and beans on the side. It does it for me everytime and the quality is out of this world! It also has a pristine & traditional environment that captures the essence of the Mexican culture, making it well rounded not only with just their food, but with their setting.
