6.4.25: I've been wanting to check out this sandwich spot and had a chance after having to drive into CDA to pick up my new reading glasses. It was around lunch time and I prepared myself for this place to be busy and I'm glad I did.
When I arrived, there was a long line of people waiting to order, almost all the tables inside were taken, and there were several people standing around waiting for their order. The ambience was definitely hustle and bustle and probably louder than usual. This didn't deter me as I got in line and prepared to put on my "patience" hat lol.
While standing in line, I had plenty of time to look at the vast menu, which everything sounded great. However, I'm still not eating meat and I went with "The Vegg." It consisted of: fresh avocado, sunflower seeds, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, cucumbers and sprouts with your choice of cheese and dressings (taken from the menu description). I chose to have it on sourdough bread, with provolone cheese, and add cranberry sauce. I made my meal a combo and added a fountain drink and a side. As for my side, I went with Greek pasta salad. I saw a handful of dessert options that they make in-house and I couldn't take my eyes off this huge rice krispie treat. So I got that and a couple of big chocolate chip cookies.
It took quite some time for the order to come out, which again I knew and didn't mind. People watching was interesting. My food was well worth the wait. The sandwich was sooo fresh, crisp, and very scrumptious. I got a half and it was huge. The bread also baked in-house was delicious and wasn't very sour. So if you like a lite sourdough then try this one. The veggies were plentiful, juicy, and crunchy and I loved the cranberry sauce addition. I would get this sandwich over and over if the quality and taste is consistent every time. The Greek pasta salad was that of what you expect a traditional Greek pasta salad would have in it. It was a decent sized portion and had good seasoning. I'm looking forward to coming back for sure.
Now let's talk about the rice krispie. It was so big, as big as my hand (see pic for reference lol). This rice krispie became an instant fav. It was soft and not overly sugary or saturated in butter. The best part I enjoyed was that they use whole mini marshmallows (see pic). The chocolate chip cookie was great with a good crisp outside and a soft but not undercooked inside.
I'm looking forward to coming back to repeat this same exact meal--that's how much I enjoyed it. Despite it being lunch rush hour, every employee was working diligently and each one I encountered was smiling and nice. I also saw some cupcakes in another case that looked awesome and will try one of two of...
Read moreHaven't been here for a while but we have never been disappointed coming here. Decided we wantdd a sandwich and we got two halfs which were extremely large. I got the Rathdrum club and it was really good. The sourdough bread was awesome and soft and so yummy. The only thing I would say about the sandwich was order light mayo because there was a lot of mayonnaise and I had to take some off. My husband got the grinder and The roast beef was delicious. I am really picky about roast beef because I don't like it super rare but it was perfect. The sandwich had sprouts on it and peppercinis and all kinds of yummy stuff. We also stopped next door and got a little cupcake that was awesome. We had some of the potato salad on the side and I really loved it. The patio seating and indoor area are both nice. I will say the most special moment of the visit was the young man on crutches in the blue hat. He was making conversation with us and very kind. We really liked his demeanor and his work ethic. He was making conversation with us and asked what we were doing today and we had let him know my daughter was bit by a dog yesterday and we were in the emergency room until 5:00 a.m. This sweet guy said he would pray for my daughter. That meant a lot to me and it was just a really good experience. I will be back here...
Read moreThe food is second to none. Really great menu and really fresh ingredients and I will contract come here and recommend it for the food for sure. Here are two things that prevent a 5 star review: there are really no tables for a single person or a couple. All the tables have seating for four or more. This means that the few tables get occupied quickly by singles and couples and at lunch it can be awkwardly crowded needlessly. the most disappointing thing here is simply that the counter service is PAINFULLY SLOW. I’ve never seen so many people moving about so much and accomplishing so little behind any deli counter as this place. Of course I’m from a larger city (Denver) and the vibe of the city is busy and fast, but these young people need to find the drive gear and put the foot on the gas when it comes to a lunch crowd if working class people. Nobody has time to wait 20 mins for a menu item sandwich. Please learn to direct that energy into a better system of food prep. Your offerings are truly delicious. Perhaps it’s the phone in orders that kill your kitchen momentum? In any case, it’s always a painful wait for lunch when a guy needs to get back to work.
Come and eat, but come to stay...
