All things considered BBB is very cool. Their own beers are excellent. I love Tasmanian Devil a strong hoppy ale, but then they concocted Ricochet Red, a strong hoppy red. I can often get a 6 pack to go that I like for grocery store prices. Delicious! Now they have excellent burgers. I wish they had more guest beers. I wish their prices were lower, but the staff are great and the facility is very pleasant. 4 1/2 of 5 stars.
Update...With some new research BBB has now been declared the first brew pub in America! They're in the Smithsonian! Try their Happy Hour Mon, Tues, Wed only - 4 to 6 pm. Not a large selection, but all styles are covered. Excellent craft beer for $4 at HH. Some complain they have "Big Food", but then don't eat it all. I like their half & half (soup or salad and 1/2 sandwich) which give you more of each than a whole salad or whole sandwich elsewhere.
Update 2022. Big disappointment the last time we went. Their prices have gone up and it’s now a fast food type experience. You order and pay at the door. The guy talking your order looks over as the default on the pay app pre-selects a gratuity for service you haven’t received. You then need to walk over the bar where the barmaid pulls and hands you your beers. I hope you can carry them all back to the table you selected and seat yourself at. Eventually a server brings over your food on disposables and hands you one wrapped plastic utensil setup and one tiny napkin. I wonder, is she getting the 18% on my $75 lunch or does that go directly to Geoff?
5 stars, now one. From now on we’ll be going to The Cannery in the Castro Valley Marketplace. Better than even the old BBB’s.
Update 2024. New owner, new day. New menu, new Brewmaster. We’re so glad BBB is back! For now, giving 4 stars. Go on Mondays! Happy Hours most of the day and evening. $7 brews and some cheap eats. We had the sliders. Fantastic! Not the kind of sliders I think of, but delicious. Tri tip, pulled pork, crispy chicken, and hamburger. We split 4 sliders and it was filling for two. $5 each slider, a bargain.
8/2024: Back again at the bar. They’re often out of Ricochet Red and they are today. So I ordered Taz. What? When did Taz become an amber? Reminds me of Ricochet Red! So, I’m happy. Not only that, after decades they’ve added public WiFi. That alone ups...
Read moreWe were longtime patrons of Buffalo Bills prior to closing so were excited to hear that they had reopened. Unfortunately they have a few kinks to work out before we return. We went on a Friday night and got there early at 4:30 (they openend at 4). The first thing that was weird is that they have a chain across the B St. entrance and a sign that says "Please see host inside for a table." We could see three people at the podium inside and they just stared at us. After a few minutes someone finally came to take our name (there was a 10 minute wait despite half the tables being empty). We were seated outside and our server arrived in about 5 minutes to take our drink orders. She said they were having trouble with the digital ordering system and apologized for the wait. I ordered a Buffalo Beer (they were out of Alimony Ale) - not good to be out of your most popular beer 30 min. after opening on a Friday night. The first thing I noticed was the beer tasted different than before. It was less malty and tasted watered down. Not sure if they changed the recipe or how they brewed the batch, but not great for a $9 pint. I ordered the pastrami sandwich (with the upgraded sweet potato waffle fries $23), my wife got the del Fuego salad with steak $26, and my daughter got the turkey club sandwich with waffle fries $23). My wifes and daughters food came out first and I had to wait 5 minutes later for mine. Chalk that one up to a new opening and guess. When we got our food our waffle fries were cold and mushy. When I brought this up to the server she said she would pass it on to the the chef but did nothing to replace it or even take it off the bill! Steak overcooked on the salad. The sandwiches were just OK. Again nothing special. Given the high prices of the food I would expect much better quality. When we left the place was packed with lots of people waiting to get in. We were pretty disappointed and hope they can work out the kinks pretty quickly or they are going to lose...
Read moreMy son and his fiancée decided to take me out to the new Buffalo Bill’s for dinner tonight. The wait time was 40 minutes, it was OK and expected for a Saturday night. We were seated in a nice table in the front window that was pulled down. So far so good. After about 5 minutes, the server came over to greet us and take our drink order. She also said, are you ready to order your food, which we were. The food and drinks came out within about four minutes. What a disappointment. We had ordered the shareable nachos. And the Del Fuego salad. The nachos were about half the size of the nachos that we used to get from the old Buffalo Bills. They looked like they had put some black beans and jalapeños on top of some chips. Sprinkled some cheese on it and microwaved it. The salad was fair, but very skimpy also in the portions. The biggest disappointment of the evening our waitress never came back to check on us. Didn’t ask us for a drink refill didn’t ask us if we want a desert didn’t ask us anything.
Finally, after we had completed our meal and sat there with piled up plates. After 10+ minutes, she came over to give us the bill. My son who is also disgusted with the service and food said to her, this is the first time we’ve seen you, since we’ve sat down and ordered. She didn’t apologize or say she was sorry or is there something I can do to make it up for you. Nothing. My son said I really hope you guys do well here. Good luck.
I don’t think we will be back for a while. Hopefully you people will get this straightened out. You’ve been open for three weeks. You would think all the bugs would be worked out by now. I was really looking forward to tonight. And it turned out to be a very disappointing memory now. Thumbs down to...
