Charleys Cheesesteaks — Restaurant in Hayward

The food here is great. But that fact is overshadowed by how slow they are and the knowledge of their employees. They had five people working and it took them nearly twenty minutes to get through ten orders. It was so bad everyone else at my table already finished eating and I was still waiting for my food. One employee screwed up so much the manager had to pull him from the line and take over. Then the other employee screwed up and kept making too many sandwiches for the same order. Even I had to tell him the guy already left with his order.

Then it was my turn... The manager yelled at him again because I ordered a veggie delight and he wanted to use his spatulas from the meat to make mine.

Can’t believe how bad this place was don’t know if its because its in a mall or whatever but man was this the longest i had to wait for 2 combos. So the old school is just a regular philly with no vegetables, no extra meat, and a nacho cheese spread which was overwhelmingly salty. The meat looks and tastes like it was microwaved, i can guarantee they dont grill it like they should it comes out so dry. I wasn't looking for food specifically and I changed my mind just upon the smell of this little place at the food court here at Southland Mall, Hayward. Excellent customer service, food preparation and good presentation overall. If there are further bad reviews, it may be customers all in their feelings about the current construction going on. Go ahead and grab a delicious meal to go, eat in the parking lot or drive to Kennedy Park on Hesparian and enjoy yourself!
