Hobby Lobby — Local services in Hayward

I am a HUGE crafter, sew, crochet, paint and Hobby Lobby was always my store of choice for supplies. Sadly I've had 2 experiences that has deterred me from going back 😪. The first one: after going to the bank and making a withdrawal I made my way to HL with a fresh from the bank $100 bill. I spent 2 hours shopping and had a cart full. At the register the cashier refused to take my money claiming it was counterfeit. The manager was called and she also refused my money. I asked them to hold my cart as I had spent so much time shopping and I would return after going back to the bank. The bank teller laughed and said HL does that all the time and the bill was fine. I returned to HL within 20 minutes and they had taken my cart and started putting my stuff away already. 2nd experience: after shopping and paying for my cart I realized I would be waiting for my ride to get there and I needed to use the restroom so I asked the cashier if I could leave my purchase up front and go back into the store to use the restroom she said it was fine to just take my bag with me. I thanked her and stepped 10 steps away and another employee started yelling (screaming actually) at me to "stop immediately" at which I did. She snatched my bag out of my hand and said " you are not going to steal from us on my shift". I tried to explain that I had asked to leave the bag up front but she just kept talking over me and would not give me back my bag. So I went ahead and used the restroom. When I came out of the bathroom a male employee I assumed was the store manager was waiting for me just outside the door. He asked me what had happened so I told him. He was nice and told the female to give me back my bag. She would not give it back. She emptied my bag on the counter and asked me where my receipt was, thankfully I had put it in my pocket because I feel like if it would have been in the bag she would have somehow "lost" it. She yelled at me "WHY IS THE RECEIPT IN YOUR POCKET"? I said because its mine and I can put it anywhere I like. Everything in the bag checked out of course with my receipt. I have NEVER been more embarrassed in my entire life! It drew a crowd of other shoppers scoffing and looking at me like I was a criminal. It still angers me even now...

I'm 7 months pregnant and was harassed at the store today at 4:15pm by a man in line who kept turning around and making rude remarks to me. When I didn't respond he then purposely stepped back into my cart and then said " oh you are pushing your cart into me?" It was a very distressing situation bc I was feeling targeted.

The worst is when I stood up for myself to say It wasn't ok to treat me like that, the cashier " Alina G " basically told me stay quiet.

I felt so betrayed by this female cashier bc this man was clearly harassing me. The cashier was a younger girl, dark straight hair in a ponytail ( I found her name on my receipt afterwards) She not only completely dismissed the situation that I was being mistreated by the man she was ringing up at the register, but she started to push blame on me saying that everyone needs to get along and I shouldn't complain - she said It really loud to get me to stay small and quiet.

I was completely appalled at her behavior - Maybe she knew him and was covering for his bad behavior which is only possible reason I could think of for the way she reacted.

After I left the store I felt emotionally distressed because of the cashier and will never be returning to this store.

The cashier did not care about the safety of her customers, especially a pregnant woman who was standing alone in line when a man was harassing her.

I have never had this kind of experience in my life and hope that the staff is better trained bc this cashier was horrendous and shouldn't be in any customer...

Oh my gosh, what? What a artist or hobby Maker's dream store absolutely massive, everything you could want and more. Also I enjoy the employees. They're not following me around asking me. What if they can help me every 5 seconds like other stores? They let you do your own thing. Be yourself and they sell great hobby craps. Summer a little overprice but others are very cheap and I love shopping there. I am an artist and I paint on canvas and they have everything I need from small murals to huge pieces. They have. High quality paint, they have some brushes and some nicer brushes, but I've seen bigger collections.It'll get the job done though the\nOne downside is, they are a religious employer store.So they are closed on Sundays cause they are very Christian and they don't work on Sundays there.Sundays are church days.My...
