Terribly understaffed! I was attempting to call in an order for breakfast to go. I called about 10 times over 30 minutes and no answer. I tried to order online and could not find the country fried steak breakfast. So I was unable to order online. I went to the restaurant already a little upset that I would have to place my order and wait there. When I arrived there were two people in front of me waiting to order to go as well. There was actuall not that many people in the restaurant, I would estimate they were about 50% full. There was a lady behind the counter taking one order. While she was taking the order 3 more people lined up behind me to pay. After she finished the order she left from behind the desk and left us standing in line without one word. We stood in line for about 15-20 more minutes before the store manager came to help us. The man in front of me became fed up and left. The store manager took the person behind me to pay before he even asked what I was there for. I told the store manager that I had been standing in line for over 15 minutes and that I had tried to call for 30 and that it was obvious that they were grossly understaffed and that as a customer I find it unacceptable and that I would be calling corporate to make a compliant. He replied "please do, I need some help in here." That was upsetting considering his shirt said he was the store manager and he should have the ability to properly staff his store without corporate involvement. He proceeded to take my order which took another 20-25 minutes because he could not find the moon's over my hammy sandwich in the system. He asked one of his staff members for help twice and she clearly heard him and looked at him and ignored him and walked away. He never looked up from the terminal so he didn't realize she looked at him and decided to ignore him. After about 15 mins he had to stop and actually go get her to get her to help and the look on her face was complete irritation. She cleary did not like or respect him. So after about an hour and 20 mins my order was finally in. Keep in mind there were still people lining up behind me to pay. The 2 gentlemen directly behind me waited over 25 mins in line just to pay there bill. I saw one family walk out without paying. After the order was placed the food came in a a decent amount of time I would estimate about...
Read moreMost servers are polite and responsive: my gripe is the degree to which virtually nobody wants to listen when a simple hot cup of Lipton tea is explicitly ordered! Today İ entered approximately 06:30 am and left 08:15 without a second cup of hot Lipton tea being served 1 hour 45 minutes about which the manager accused me of being wrong: in other words in plain English, he was accusing me of bald faced lying and over a hot cup of Lipton tea.
Over the last several weeks İ just put up quietly with "hot" tea barely warm enough for a bath.
Yesterday İ held up the Lipton tea and said "Please give me another hot cup of this Lipton tea" which the server didn't understand and asked if i wanted orange tea. Whatever that is, İ really do not want to know. Again İ held up the Lipton package to the server's face and said "Nope no orange..just a cup of hot Lipton tea." And he had to ask me again about orange morange İ dunno what tea. Ten minutes about what a cup of hot Lipton tea meant
Today after waiting almost half an hour after ordering a second cup of hot Lipton tea explicitly İ was served warm bath water in a cup, no tea. İ asked again for a second cup of Lipton tea, hot. This time the server returned another half hour or so saying İ would have to pay for the second cup. Still no tea. İ gave up: I said thanks for the lesson in economics.
Bring me some more hot water, please and how much will the hot water cost, İ was asking when she lost her cool and said "İ am telling the manager."
The manager's response was to cut me off several times mid sentence and eventually to tell me that nothing I'd said was true. And that there was no way I'd been waiting an hour: İ had come in at 06:30 and didn't leave until 08:15. 1 hour 45 minutes.
All that over a second cup of hot explicitly Lipton tea, the only tea they serve. What is it about a second cup of hot tea made from tea that gets people in California so riled up?
İ had French toast and 2 scrambled eggs and two tea bags with hot water, no pigs, and a second cup of hot water, about $30. really cheap and it took nearly 2 hours at six thirty in the morning with one other customer when İ came in. But who's complaining.
After showing my motel İD, i was not given it's 20% discount

Read moreHigh recognition must be afforded to morning-afternoon waitress Sarojini from Fiji who stands out as very professional, efficient, friendly and respectfull to all of the patrons. She seems to be the stuff of management material who would sail a very proficient ship at any Denny's location. Sarojini would be respected by any staff and held in the highest regard. This is not to say all of the waiters and waitresses are not hard working as well as the greeters and kitchen staff. With this being said, this Denny's can get very busy on weekends and the wait can prove lengthy. I had a single bad experience on a recent night when several booths and tables were unoccupied but myself and a couple were made to wait an unreasonably long time. Actually I felt like an ignored and unimportant customer during that visit so I finally walked away to the neighboring McDonald's. But although inexcusable, this seems to have been an exception at this Denny's. The food is always tasty and is served in a timely manner. One practice the management of this Denny's should stop immediately is allowing the homeless to park inside of the restaurant with their worldly belongings and even children, and to loiter in the eating and restroom spaces. As a paying patron I have found the viewing of vegabonds inside of and at the entrance of the restaurant quite unappetizing to say the least. Denny's is not responsible for the troublesome homeless woes. Responsibility sits with all of the liberal politicians at all levels of government in this region who are all so afraid of being politically incorrect when proposals come forward to legislate firm handed policies in dealing with this rapidly expanding...
