Family House of Fish & Poultry — Restaurant in Hayward

I'm glad I grew up in the 70's when black folks cared about the QUALITY AND QUANTITY of food they served. This place is a MAJOR disappointment. I can't believe they have the ordacity to serve the small amounts of food at such high prices. My wife and I stopped by one day after passing this place a million times. We ordered a two-way combo meal. Ordered the Catfish and oysters which came with fries, coleslaw. Before I received my order I ask the cashier how many pieces of fish and how big are they. He said six pieces of fish and they are nice size. Anyway I got my order and when we opened the bag to eat I felt like I got ripped off. The six pieces of fish was cut from half of a filet with six oysters, a couple of tablespoons of coleslaw and some old French fries. This meal cost us $30. I wish I had rolled by this place without stopping like had had so many times before but curiosity got the best of me. I truly hope the owner reads this disappointing review and this will motivate him/her to make some changes. Oh and not to mention the guy had the nerve to charge me $1 for tartar sauce (1 tablespoon). Tarter sauce does NOT come with the meal. EL CHEAPO. IF I could give no stars I would. I should have known better because everytime I would pass by this place it was a ghost town....

The food here is great. Catfish, fried shrimp, chicken are hands down the best in Hayward. The only problem with this place is they only take cash and they never answer the phone. Sometimes they even closed early with no announcement. And nine times out of ten, the people working at the front are rude too.

Today when I pulled up a sign said" no walk-in orders, only phone in". I was standing at the front door I could hear the phone ringing and still nobody answered. When the guy came to the register he refused to take my order and said I had to call. I told him that I was calling and got no answer. He said call again and he'll answer and I got to the parking lot and called again and guess what, I got no answer.

I love this place for their delicious food but I would never waste my time or...

First off who still runs on CASH ONLY and can't change a fifty Issue #1

Walk to go get change came back you would think he would have at least started cooking my order right? NOPE issue #2

Now to the food a 6 piece fish came with fries. I also added hush puppies and potato salad ( store bought ) Iwill never come back the portions or lack of is beyond disrepectful! How do you cut one piece 6 times. I'm not sure how it made it out the grease issue #3

LoL they was so small, sad how trying something new and spending my hard earned money with them ( Black Folks ) has left a taste in my mouth. Bleach can't get out. I took the whole meal back and left it. Along with Poor customer service they offered no refund nor did they offer to make it right.
