Two and a half stars at best. What a disappointment when it comes to chicken biriyani. Every bite had some sort of tiny piece of bone in your mouth. They need to check with their meat source. Partially warm, bland and under flavored rice with fried onions on top.
Second dish we had was karahi chicken which was in a sauce deep enough to take a dip in. Since when water became associated with “karahi”.
Third dish was Nihari, which is the only dish wich was somewhat decent. Or maybe after having everything else this is the only thing I felt like a decent food in my mouth. Shaan masala nihari all the way. Again not warm. One piece of meat was good the other was so hard my wife could have used it to hit me with.
Naan oh if I could just have naan by itself! It was fluffy and crispy and delicious. Thank you Pakwan for the wonderful naan.
It was my return to this place after 2 years. I shall see them again after another 2 years…. If I suffer from a short term...
Read moreAnother famous chain restaurant of Bay Area. They have at least 4 branches that I know of (Hayward, 2 is SFO city and Ocean Avenue). I have been going to Hayward branch since early 2000s. Used do do Sunday brunches quite often but now health does not afford a heavy intake like before therfore visits are quite reduced ..specially after moving out of Fremont.
Their food is mostly good. Only 2 out of 10 times you woukd get a thing just average. Nihari, chicken tandoori, chicken seekh kabab and chicken tikka masala are our favorites.
The new Indian Boys at the counter are very well mannered and good with customers. This was not the case before :) .....with good desi restaurants usually customer service is inversely proportional to popularity/rating of...
Read moreI recently dined at Pakwan and found the experience to be a mixed bag. The food is undeniably flavorful but extremely spicy, so it's definitely a place for those who can handle the heat.
One unique aspect is that they serve the food in metal palettes and the cups are also made of metal. While this adds a distinctive touch to the dining experience, I couldn't help but feel a bit concerned about the cleanliness and sanitization of the utensils, especially the water cups. The combination of hot food and metal utensils might not be the most comfortable for everyone.
Overall, if you’re a fan of spicy cuisine and don’t mind the metal serveware, might be worth a visit. However, those with concerns about utensil cleanliness might want to take that into...
