J R Rice Bakery — Restaurant in Hayward

The woman wasn't that nice... I didn't feel much welcomed.

I was expecting at least a catalog of rice cakes so that I can select which I can order - there weren't any. Her voice was mixed with frustration and I felt I should leave immediately. Her knowing that I don't have much experience in buying rice cake, I felt some vanity in her attitude which somewhat made me upset.

Still, since it was the closest place from where I live and I had to order a batch (10lbs) for my brother in law... She did not receive credit cards- only cash or checks.. I preferred credit card.

She emphasized she was in this business for 25 years - which I think she somehow lost the passion for customers during that time.

I would rather go to the place in San Jose despite the long drive.. (I live in San Leandro) or maybe think of some other alternatives than...

We could not stop eating them!

Sweet without being overly sugary and balanced nicely with perfect chewy texture.

So many places sell them, but this is the only place I've found where they taste homemade and delicious. I am definitely placing an order for a party tray for my babies 100 day celebration, her 1st birthday and then just because. Business owned by a kind family who's been working hard at the craft for decades. Once this places closes we will lose a gem so get them while...

I was craving rice cakes filled with sesame and sugar(꿀떡) one day and was ecstatic to find out that one of the best rice cake places in the Bay Area was near me. When I went in around Sunday 7am, the owners were busy making bulk orders but kindly paused to show me a few of their small selections for sale. Sadly, no 꿀떡 was available for the day but after asking, they advised to call beforehand to confirm what they have in stock that day since the menu changes each day. It’s a good idea since it seemed like their hours vary based on what I read from the notice on the door. Bring cash.

I picked up two (pictured) rice cakes and they were both warm, soft, and delicious. I will be returning for more.

마켓에서 파는 딱딱한 꿀떡이 아닌 제대로된 꿀떡이 너무 먹고싶어 찾아보니 운이 좋게도 가까이 전통 떡집이 있어 아침부터 부리나케 달려갔습니다. 당일 꿀떡은 없었으나 아쉬운데로 앙꼬가 들어있는 인절미와 콩떡을 샀고 실망하지 않았습니다. 어릴적 한국에서 먹던 그 맛입니다. 타지에서 한인들을 위해 새벽부터 열심히 맛있는 떡을 만들어 주시는 주인분께 감사드립니다. 오래오래 하셨으면 좋겠습니다. 이미 북가주에서 많은 사랑 받고 계시지만 더욱 더...
