I have to be brutally honest about this place. The owner has been is this space a long time. I have made the mistake of stopping in for breakfast 4 times in the last 5 years. In every visit I walked out saying that is the last time. I obviously have not followed through on that statement. I recently noticed a sign suggesting the recently renovated "Old Time Bagel". I thought this may suggest new ownership or at the very least the previous owner making a financial commitment to improve the place. The renovation was a minor change it did have a little more curb appeal but the same problems existed. The service is slow! The coffee stinks which is the breakfast drink of choice for 85% of working adults grabbing a bagel on the fly. From the glass you can see the giant vat in the back where they ACTUALLY boil their bagels which is the correct way to make a bagel and not just round dough in the shape of a bagel. These bagels are the best bagels I’ve ever had in New Jersey since moving from New York. The woman behind the counter is always so nice. Their bagels for the quality are well priced. The roll was frozen and they nuked and then placed on the grill. The roll becomes tough after that. The meat which was from the deli roast beef in the front display case, they sliced it and grilled it. I feel they should at least use fresh raw meat in this case.
