Started doing an annual fall fishing trip to NJ with high school buddies.
Needed an inexpensive hotel with enough parking for a boat on a trailer.
Looked online several areas for reviews. Seemed though this wasnt cheapest it was better for only 15.00 night more than another that had much lower reviews.
I booked and stayed and was very pleasantly surprised. I am a lifetime titanium marriott rewards member with 1500 plus nights in marriott line hotels alone. This hotel was as nice as many fairfield inn or similar in marriott line and at much higher price point.
I did not get free marriott line as i could have as none were close enough to keyport boat launch so inopted to pay.
Breakfast was advertised as continental but it had waffle maker, eggs sausage potatoes along with other things so i would call it a full breakfast, though it seems same daily.
Housekeeping is by request but i just asked front desk for resupply of coffee packs and towels. I prefer no daily housekeeping. Friendly staff.
Room was clean nice and i was surprised how latge in room fridge was. Fueniture was a little worn but clean but i would expect that at this price point.
I booked expedia and found later i would have earned far more rewards points after joining their program. You have to book direct to get promotional points. In future ivwoll book direct as i plan to use best western much more after my stay here. I need a chain that is in smaller locations not business areas like marriott line ones are. BW will earn my bisiness if all are as good and nice as Hazlet.
Good choice to stay here. I...
Read moreThis was a pass through hotel for us as we were ending our NYC trip to Manhattan. We rode the water taxi over from Pier 11 and Uber’d everywhere around this location.
We came to Jersey to see the Maroon5 concert at PNC arena… which btw if you are going to Uber to and from that location be aware at the end of the concert for about 2 hours the Uber/ Lyft rides are Welllll over $100.00 plus a added pnc service charge and a event charge. You can get there for $12.50 from this hotel though.
Next time we will plan better and take the NJ train back to the airport due to the tolls we were charged getting from this location totaled $50.00 charged by Uber in addition to the ride cost and we’re not made aware of that cost in advance
The hotel itself is VERY DATED, even though you get the continental breakfast the price was extremely steep for the quality. We travel A LOT and for $350.00 a night I would have expected renovated rooms/ higher quality.
The rooms were extremely clean and the beds were comfortable, pillows were a little lacking but not bad for the quality of the hotel definitely not the price point though.
The front desk staff was friendly when checking in and out, and when asked if we could fill our water bottle to reuse it she offered us two fresh bottles of water free of charge.
Overall would I stay here again probably, just hoping for a correction of...
Read moreWhen I arrived at the hotel I realized pictures online look a lot nicer than it is. When I checked in I noticed a very strong perfume smell. Check-in was very fast and very pleasant employees. When I entered my room I noticed very outdated furniture with scratches similar to furniture you would find in a college dorm, pillows were small, square, something you would put on a couch, pillows were unacceptable, I went out and bought a pillow, they were that bad. The room had a very musty smell, I laid down on the bed and looked up and on the ceiling had brown spots that look like there may be mold forming in the corners. The ceilings were covered with the popcorn spray that's popular from back in the 70s it was obvious they were trying to hide water damage. The bedding was two flat sheets with a blanket in the middle I guess that was their idea of a comforter definitely did not have that hotel feeling that I have experienced with other hotels bedding. I really wanted to sit outside but there is no designated area for non-smokers. Since the hotel lobby smells so bad with a strong perfume smell I couldn't even sit there to just relax and get out of my room. Thank God Starbucks is next door so I was able to go sit there and enjoy a nice clean smelling environment. If it wasn't for the staff I would have moved to a...
