Dear Potato Bakery — Restaurant in Helena

Everything about this place is nothing short of fabulous! I have only been able to make one visit so far, but I fell in love at the first bite of the most flavorful, perfect borscht I've ever tasted, and the "Nacho Pig" piroshki with cashew cheese, black beans, and corn was delightful. The cashew cheese have it such a unique flavor that paired flawlessly with the other flavors, and the breading was the most perfect, soft texture. Try dunking it in the borscht, you will not be disappointed! And to top it off...the pineapple upside down cake... what a completely divine delicacy! I have literally dreamt about that cake since my visit! Everything was incredibly fresh. They have a wonderful variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free foods so there's something for everyone's dietary needs/preferences. I admit, I have not had great experiences with vegan food in the past, but this place has totally flipped the script for me! They know how to do it right! The atmosphere and decor is different than any other eating establishment in Helena, in the best way. It's so fun and there's so much cool stuff to look at. They honestly have the coolest, and one of the cleanest bathrooms I've seen in a public place. 😆 It gave disco roller rink vibes! And lastly, the staff were so sweet and friendly and you can tell it's a fun, yet professional work environment. I cannot wait to go back! Unbelievable. Seriously… The more I looked around, the more I was amazed by how cozy and wonderful this place is.😭😭😭 From the lighting, to the AMAZING artwork, to the 2000’s vibe. And the fact that it’s maximalist but there’s also a really great corner for kids to hang out and play so it’s not overwhelming to bring my kids!!!!!😭❤️ Seriously did tear up because of how cozy, safe, and fun this whole place is. Every detail was thought of and executed PERFECTLY!!! AND THE FOOD!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I’ve been a huge fan of dear potato since they were at the farmers market years ago and I’m just SO happy and thankful they opened up a shop and did such an amazing job!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

IM NOT DONE!!! THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING!!!! I was served by Jay and they are so nice and knowledgeable about the food. Everyone seemed busy, but not stressed out, which was so refreshing. SERIOUSLY AMAZING SPOT CANNOT RECCOMEND ENOUGH! I DONT EVEN KNOW THE OWNER THAT WELL BUT I FEEL LIKE A PROUD MOM AND THEY SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF THEMSELVES!!! Helena needed a spot like this. Food is so dang good. The piroshkis are the kind of savory, hint-o-sweetness, treats that you'll be thinking about all day after you eat one. I also made the delicious mistake of ordering a disco cookie, these cookies are HEFTY and a cacophonic medley of white and milk chocolate, butterscotch, frosting, sprinkles and edible glitter. I thought I would eat it little by little over a few days since it probably weighs more than a very small chihuahua but instead I couldn't resist eating it all at once. Now I'll be thinking about eating one every week forever. Be warned, like real glitter, edible glitter gets all over everything, your kitchen floor, your dog's face, your baby's face... But it's worth it. Timing is everything if you want to get some gluten-full piroshkis as they seem to regularly sell out. It really is awesome that there's now a place in town with a selection dairy-free baked goods for my husband who has a mild dairy allergy. DP will become a part of our regular Helena...
