On Saturday, October 1st my partner and I went to the Vanilla Bean. Iām not sure what was going on, but on this particular day several tables were without their food orders for over an hour, including my partner and me. Finally, a staff member approached saying it would be another hour or they could offer a refund. We opted for the refund. While that was being processed another staff came over and handed our order to us in a to go back despite the fact we opted for dine-in. It was a mess. Ultimately, our money was refunded and the food still given to us which made up somewhat for the poor experience. The most disappointing part is that I asked if a burrito could be made vegan for me. They said it could. They made me the best vegan breakfast I have had in all of Helena. I wish it was a permanent item on their menu. The burrito contained black beans, corn, sweet potato, spinach and more. However, due to the last experience Iām reluctant to eat...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been a VB customer since she opened. The reason for this review is that it seems the customer experience is declining. Melissa is a very very talented pastry chef, but the offerings are limited and appear to be less as time goes on. Generally 4 varieties of cookies (the same types are offered at other bakeries in town), funfetti/ chocolate cupcakes and occasionally raspberry, and 2-3 types of cakes plus 2-3 bar cookies.
She used to do specialty items like napoleons and. opera cake. Blarney stones were only offered for a couple weeks this year.
I know people come for coffee and visiting, but Iāve talked to locals who are searching for an alternative because they are tired of limited selections.
Iāve also noticed that attitude toward customer service is mentioned by several reviewers. A bad experience means loss...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped in for lunch while driving from Bozeman to Missoula via Helena. Went a little out of the way after stumbling on it, since we used to frequent the Vanilla Bean Cafe in Pomfret, Connecticut as kids. Thought it would be fun to compare the two. We had a great experience. The street view hides a very spacious and open seating area inside with a large garage door open to the outside. As for food, the focus seems to be on the bakery (cakes, pastries, etc), but we were all very happy with our lunch. My son and I got the southwest chicken panini, which were delicious (just a hint of spice, but very mild). My wife got a veggie sandwich and we were really happy that they were willing and able to customize a sandwich for our daughter! Thanks for a great experience - would definitely recommend the...
