My husband and I were in town this past Saturday looking for a restaurant to celebrate his birthday at. He loves steak and beer, so we decided to check out Steer'N'Stein. We saw the 4.5 star rating and good reviews, so we had high expectations. My first thought when we pulled into the parking lot was, "Is this the front or back of the restaurant?" because there is only a sign stating that this is in fact a Steer'N'Stein as well as a single bench by the front door. The entrance did not look very inviting at all. The atmosphere inside was no different unfortunately. We were not greeted, just asked "how many?" and we were briefly led to our table. There we met our server (she was nice), looked at our menus, and decided on what to order. I got the ribeye/side salad/baked potato and my husband got the bacon wrapped tri-tip/french fries/ mashed potatoes. We both ordered our meat cooked medium. When we got our food, my steak was cooked perfectly but was oversalted. My side salad seemed like it was straight out of a plastic bag- just iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of purple cabbage for color. My baked potato was delicious. His tritip was seared on the outside, but purple and cold in the middle with undercooked, blubbery bacon wrapped around it. It was rare and we were thoroughly grossed out. His french fries were good as well as the mashed potatoes. We told our server about the tritip, and instead of taking his plate to the back to fix the issue, our server brought another plate for him to toss his meat on so they could recook it. I used to work at a steakhouse so I was a little appalled at this practice. Despite this, a few minutes later they brought his tritip back, this time perfectly cooked. The food/dining experience is the main reason why I give this spot 3 stars. The prices are cheap compared to other steakhouses, but you get what you pay for. There are also other small details that would prevent me from coming back. I would love if they played some background music because all you can hear is other people's conversations as well as forks/knives clanking against plates. It gives the restaurant cafeteria vibes. The restrooms are single stalls and they only have one per gender, both of which...
Read more4-19-2025 The service is great, seated quickly for an early saturday dinner. Staff is pretty attentive. Place has some LED lights now, so it's a tad bit brighter; it's ok for steak places to be bright, doesn't impact the food. We had a mixtures of things, the steak sandwich was good as was the mash side. The burger tasted like it was actually ground in the back and not from frozen patty pantry the 1 piece of bacon on it was pretty good, bulky and seasoned as was the beef; the pickles paired with the beef to offset the richness; all in all a good burger The side chili beans was a good pick; actual meat in the beans; no hint of just adding bbq sauce; some time was put into the recipe on this one; give it a shot. The steak was hit and miss various consistencies in the cook; and the side potato was eaten without complaint. The homemade slaw surpassed other places pre bought in bag options. Water offering has improved tremendously; thanks. Parking is a little tough due no fault to the restaurant of course. Price a little high for a burger at $15 base, steak sand at $17 and steak at $20; I suggest drop the burger price a bit to compete with your across the street full in n out at $8 for a meal.
12-2019 Update: The burger was made from sirloin so you have to try that; good value for the money comparatively. The water was tap water and tasted justly; so avoid that. Philly tasted ok but go for the burger.
6-2019Our party had multiple shrimp and steak platters along with a chicken sandwich. The service is still very attentive and the place lighting has magically gotten brighter; good thing for LED bulbs and dimmer switches. The shrimp tasted fine and the chicken...
Read moreWalked in at 1200 noon, interior is dated but clean. Wife ordered peppered steak I ordered the cheese burger plate.
No lunch specials, all dinner prices. This place should have been packed, only 8 people including wife and myself.
Burger with salad, pepper steak was $30.00. Way too much for lunch. Table leg was uneven, table rocked back and forth , VERY ANNOYING.
Server was incredible, very attentive, water filled and even loaded my Togo bag.
Food was good, my burger was fresh made, juicy and slightly pink. Wifes steak was cooked perfectly however I really need to question why a steak house would serve a Brisket slice as a steak.
Good:
food tasted pretty good Server Fresh made.
Bad:
Place feels claustrophobic due to two small windows. Table was uneven and rocked. Stupid high prices due to no lunch offerings only dinner prices. No noticable signage streetside.
In closing, average food at exceedingly superior prices. Sad actually, this place could draw a ton of people, situated on the highest traveled...
