5 years after my last review and the food has just gone down more. Ordered steak picado it was salty, the chips tasted old and stale, the salsa beans and rice are still great but overall not great. The restaurant was EMPTY, probably because of the food being not so great at the price you're paying.
Over the years the quality and taste of food has gotten worse and worse. Every shrimp plate I have tried is bad. The mojo de ajo I ordered last time was burnt. No sauce didn't even taste like garlic. The camarones a la diabla also bad. Last time I ordered them they were salty. I don't know how that's possible, but they did it, also burnt. i ordered carne asada tacos ONCE, the meat was ok, the tortilla SOAKED in oil, I had to just pick out the meat itself. The only thing consistent that hasn't really changed is the rice beans and salsa. The prices have gone up drastically also, i stopped going for quite some time because after the remodel the prices were ridiculous and the food wasn't great. The service has been ok at best. Some of the older server ladies that have been there forever are the worst. It seems like they have forgotten customer service. I wouldn't recommend it...
Read moreThis was actually my first time here. Our daughter, and boyfriend invited us as they frequent here, really like the food etc,, After arriving a bit after 11am we sat down and I guess had lunch menu's as I'm not fond of much spice and my daughter let me know the salsa was pretty spicy. We were brought breakfast menus and I asked about their guacamole and she said its mostly jst pureed avacado and a bit of salt and she was right very natural and very nice in flavor also! I ordered the Western Omlette and this comes with your choice of toast, also to my surprise it came with red potatoes, refried beans. It was flavored nice with just a hint of heat not too much it just enhanced the flavor! Others had the Menudo which they are known for with all the fixings too! Everything was Very Good, and the Service was Exceptional too! They are Attentive, prebus some also, check on you throughout. Then if you want a little something sweet, yet not too much have their Flan it was Fantastic! I hope you try this place and enjoy...
Read moreI've known of this restaurant since my mom moved out to Sun City in 1999. I've eaten there several times through the years but since I moved up to Menifee a few years ago, I've been able to eat there again.
Like all businesses, places to eat got hit hard by Covid. Once everything calmed down, it was time to go to La Fogata. Unfortunately, their hours have changed so a couple times we went, I didn't check business hours and arrived to a closed restaurant.
Well, we finally were able to eat this past Saturday. The food was good and as well as the service.
This is not a chain restaurant so that's a plus. It's old school Mexican restaurant eating (watch out, the plates are hot!).
I was not busy when we went (around 2:30pm Saturday). It was nice to get seated right away. We were eating in no time.
If you haven't tried this restaurant, please do. And if you haven't been back in a while, try to get in when you can.
