Steve's Burgers — Restaurant in Hemet

I had been to this place several times in the past and the food has always been pretty good. Yesterday, June 21,2019 the owners wife ( I believe). Middle eastern lady with short blond hair, tried to straight RIP ME OFF. Then when I question her about the bill, She started speaking in tongues. When she gave me the receipt I asked her what was the additional 1.99 and 1.67 charge was for that she added to come closer to what she told me to originally pay and the was 17.89. I told her I ordered right from the menu that they have posted and I have pictures of it and half of our conversation that I will be forwarding on the the proper authorities. I asked her how does a double bacon cheeseburger 5.75 and chili cheese fries 6.99 total 17..86 ????????and get this she told me there is an additional charge for a double bacon cheese burger that they have posted as a double bacon cheese burger of 1.99 for the extra patty. And the other charge was because according to her the chili cheese fries there was an additional 1.67 that was not posted on the menu at all. She was so disrespectful and not even a sorry or anything. So watch your receipts and don’t support a shady resturaunt that takes advantage of their customers. When I callled in today June 22 a man answered the phone and I told him my what happened, he down played it. He wouldn’t admit to being the owner or manager, when I told him I would report this to the authorities he told me to call the cops. So the bottom line is- these people do not deserve to be in business and I hope they get fined and learn how to treat their customers that fought for our country better and with more respect. I was told by other people the resturaunt had gone down hill when the previous owner sold it to the new owners and by the way I was treated, I can see why. Or maybe the wife is doing the accounting when she can’t even do simply addition like we learned in 1st grade. I will never go back unless a formal apology is expressed and I do not have to speak to this...

Ever since I could remember when my family first moved to this town we found this place and LOVED IT since then. It turned into this generational place to where I started to bring my children here and now 2 of them are almost adults. Today I was extremely disappointed and enraged shocked and sad just to name a few emotions. This afternoon I decided I was going to treat my family and pick up dinner from here. Like always we go to order our usual exactly how we have ordered each and every single time, a pastrami sandwich but the bread on the side so our bread would not end up saugy and some of us can share it. Immediately I was taken back by the female owner who I have talked to and had many good conversations with and even have tipped her and her staff very well not to mention when we go there and order we always spend at bare minimum $50 if not more and today's order would have been about $60 if not more. She Immediately went off on me saying she does not allow things like this it is too much for them to deal with and was very rude disrespectful and kept dismissing and cutting me off. When I tried to talk to her calmly she was rude and unappreciatative to customers and ultimately lost a customer and did not care. The sad part is I really loved this place and wanted a small business to support and succeed but after this I probably will not be back unless she wants to change her approach to customer service. She did not even care that I have her behavior all on video and how rude and disrespectful she was. If that is the way they want to run things now then maybe they do not need to be in business anymore. Because last I checked without customers your business will not succeed. Their "Pastrami Sandwich" (is a full meal itself), and separately their "Combo of 3" (which consists of onion rings, deep fried zucchini and mushrooms) are all great! I prefer adding some salt on top of that Combo. Though it should come with 2 Ranch dipping sauce cups too. This is a place for big and hungry people! The "Combo of 3" should probably serve at least three people, or take some home for more later. I've been visiting this place as a drive thru only for nearly 3 decades. It holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I like their food and they have a large menu. It's mostly just a drive thru but I believe they have 3 or 4 takeout tables in front. You need to enter the drive thru from the adjacent side street and not Florida Ave. In Hemet, they're a go-to for me! They're slightly pricey for a takeout place, but typically have large portions. They have the best greek Gyro sandwiches in Hemet also! You can order onion rings or deep fried zucchini individually too. The "Combo of 3" is huge! I ate a lot of their burgers too back in the 90's. When they were still only a dollar! Those days are gone forever. It's easy to miss this place when cruising down Florida Ave. It's about a block west of San Jacinto Ave, near the heart of town.
