July 2024: I have rarely ever left a 1Star Review on Google. Discovered the Cafe Lola when I was visiting another fine business nearby. Went in and was very pleased with how quaint and pretty the little Cafe is with the pretty flowers and trees etc. Plus I like the name Cafe Lola. So I went to the front counter and ordered a glass of champagne to enjoy there. The pretty young lady said to pay there and take a placard with the number on it and go sit at the table and it would be brought to me. This was on a weekday about 10:30 am. I was celebrating a special day in my life. I'm a senior recovering from hip replacement surgery and it has been several years since I could get myself out and even be able to afford a special drink as I'm super low income on my Social Security Retirement. So anyway as I was up to the front counter paying for one glass of Champagne I said ok how much is it? The girl said $12. I was surprised as a think that is too high for one glass Champagne (off-Strip) but I told her okay and handed her a $20 bill and said she could keep the change for her tip. ($8 tip so about a 37% gratuity) she said thanks and to go sit down and the Champagne would be brought to me. There was no Staff shortage as there were 3 or 4 Staff behind the Counter. As I went and picked out a table and sat down I noticed the place was empty except for 2 other tables were occupied....so I sat n waited n waited n waited.....thinking they forgot about me even tho it was slow...finally the same girl brought the Champagne after me waiting for 30 or 40 minutes???????? Why????? I was kept waiting about 40 min & I was so thirsty & I had come in from 112° outside....She did apologize for the wait but still couldn't understand it as the 2 other tables already had had their food as I noticed this before I sat down.....then I was so thirsty after being kept waiting so long I asked the girl could she please bring me a glass of iced water but she said no, we don't do that you have to go get it yourself up at the front counter......so she left.....so I was charged too much for 1 glass of Champagne and left a 37% gratuity and I waited forever for my Champagne and the girl refused bringing me a simple glass of water!!!! Very poor customer service!!!! I left later when done with the Champagne and I was kind still and took up my Placard over to the front counter and left it there and told a different girl "thank you & have a nice day" she did not even acknowledge me just acted like I did not exist no common courtesy so I just left then......so I definitely will never ever return to this Cafe after this discouraging unfriendly experience right when I was celebrating something fun in my life. I can only ever afford to buy something out only like 3 times a...
Read morePlaced my order online and said it would be ready in 20 min. I waited to clock out for my lunch break 30 min after to ensure it would be ready. Walk in, the place is dead, go where it says pick up and the guy (young kid) working there goes over to the ipad/tablet and says "gimme 20 min". I said I placed the order 35 min ago, and he doesn't apologize or anything and just says he didn't see the order. I could understand if maybe you were busy but IT WAS EMPTY inside. No excuse! So I say I can't wait that long because my lunch is only 30 min. So he says well I can call you when it's ready. MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE! I declined and said I couldn't do that because my lunch would be over by then and I couldn't come get it let alone eat it. Also, why does an acai bowl take 20 min when you have no guests inside. So I told him I want a refund and he says I can have it ready in 2 minutes. Ummm now you went from 20 min to 2 min, I'm confused. So I say if it can be ready in 5 min I will take it.
Got the bowl. Walked back to my work just in time to try and scarf it down before I have to clock in in 10 min. As I'm eating I catch a glimpse of the blueberries and double take. HALF ARE COVERED IN MOLD!! So I start looking at everything else after scooping the blueberries out and the back side of the banana was completely brown and soggy. What the heck is wrong with this place. Literally threw the whole thing away. Wasted my lunch break, wasted my money, and I had to go hungry the whole 11hr work day. I will NEVER come back to this place and If I were you. I would stay far away too!
And no I didn't call them because 1) I had to go back to work, 2) I didn't want to get some Run around excuse from the boy who cannot take any responsibility, and 3) they would probably want me to come back to have it remade when this is after the fact and I'm totally grossed out about how someone can feel right about...
Read moreOk... to be fair the star rating goes like this: ambience and decor - 5 stars. Food - 4 stars. Service - 2 stars. I hate to say it, but the service- or lack of service- kind of overshadowed the other parts of the dining experience. Our waitress, who was nice enough, seated us and came back well over 10 minutes later to get our drink order. It was not overly busy at all. There seemed to be adequate staff milling around. The cocktails took another 15 minutes to arrive. When we finally did order our food, it took a long time to come out. The waitress didn't come back once to ask to refill our waters which were empty or to check in and ask how everything was. She also didn't pick up plates between arrival of menu items or the empty cocktail glass when she brought back the new cocktail. The table was small so we actually had to pick up our empty plates so she had room to set down the new plates and hand them to her. When we were finally done and had sat there for a good long while we had to leave the table to ask for our own check. Yikes. Maybe just a bad day? Ok... so the bright side. The cafe itself is darling. Great decor and clean as a whistle. The menu is creative but a tad overpriced. They have a great selection of imaginative coffee and tea concoctions. Also a fun custom cocktail menu. We got the charcuterie board for 2 and shared the house burger with truffle potato chips. Both were good. My companion got a mimosa and a white peach bellini both of which were yummy. The afternoon tea menu looks like a lot of fun but I will be hesitant to return to try it based on the cost of it coupled with the service experience we had. If Lola's can get the service staff to perform to match the menu prices they will be worth...
