My husband is in the Navy and we recently got stationed here in California, since we were going to actually be together for this 4th of July and he just got back off deployment we decided to go to Vegas. As my husband is a true Cajun born and raised in Baton Rouge, he knows a thing or two about crawfish and that is absolutely why I found this restaurant and unfortunately, Hot & Juicy in Henderson missed the mark.
We went on a Saturday evening around 7PM. It wasn’t overly packed, but the service and quality just didn’t add up to the price tag. We were drawn in by the promise of a good ol’ crawfish boil, and while the food had flavor, there were too many red flags to ignore.
We made the mistake of ordering the live crawfish at market price. Spoiler alert: they weren’t live. The waiter insisted they were, but when our order came out, more than half the crawfish were just heads—no tails, no meat, and certainly not fresh. These weren’t the plump, juicy tails you expect from live boil; they were clearly previously frozen and poorly cleaned. Anyone from Louisiana would’ve clocked that in one bite.
The seasoning we ordered was “hot,” but it leaned more sweet than spicy. Not bad, but not the heat we were expecting.
To make matters worse, my son didn’t get his kids’ boil until 30 minutes after the adults were served. His meal, which was supposed to include a full pound of crab, came with just three small, broken legs—and cost $71. We also ordered a side of rice for him at the beginning when we ordered the rest of the meals and that didn’t arrive until 5 minutes before we got the check. That came after we politely brought up the issue with the crawfish, at which point our server got an attitude and stopped coming to our table entirely. I have videos. A different staff member eventually dropped off the rice, no apology or explanation.
Bottom line: the food was decent, but overpriced for the quality. It’s an experience, sure but one I wouldn’t personally repeat. If you go, steer clear of the so-called live crawfish. Or anything with crab. For a boil spot that carries this kind of name and price point, they should know better.
Lastly there was no toilet paper in the ladies bathroom at 7:15pm on a Saturday. Like I said and experience I wouldn’t repeat.
EDITED TO ADD THAT BOGUS EMAIL ADDRESS YOU GAVE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE CLEARLY DOESNT WORK. DONT WASTE...
Read moreOn 8/19/2018 at approximately 12 o'clock in the afternoon our group of 14 visited this establishment at 9560 S. Eastern Ave to celebrate my wife's birthday. The experience this day was unlike any other and very disturbing to not only myself but to our friends and family. Our server's name was Jani during this visit and we sat in station 3 with enough chairs to seat 16 people. Jani took our drink requests and then came around and got our food orders with no assistance from any other servers. I ordered the Etouffee, which is a soup like dish, I had never ordered before and Jani asked if I would like to try it first and I agreed. Shortly after Jani brought the taste portion out which was good but extremely hot. I ordered a serving of the Etouffee for me and my wife to share. As we waited Jani brought out our drinks then started bringing out some of the main orders for others in our group again with no assistance from any of the other servers. Since the Etouffee was ordered as an appetizer I only assumed Jani forgot about it and would shortly bring out our main meals. Without warning from Jani I sat back in my chair and at this time Jani spilled the entire foam bowl of scolding hot Etouffee all down my shirt, shorts and on my sneakers. I immediately felt burning on my stomach and leg. My wife asked Jani multiple times for something to help clean this off and was brought out individually packaged wet napkins. Finally my wife was given a towel and she came back to help me get the scolding hot and very spicy Etouffee off of my clothing. At this time my wife saw the marks left on my stomach and leg from the scolding hot Etouffee and advised Jani the food severely burned my body. Jani never offered me any professional medical attention and provided no documentation of the incident even after I asked multiple times. Numerous policies were violated per the companies HR specialist during this incident. Hey, accidents happen but hopefully this doesn't happen to you or most importantly a child. At this point the company has brushed me off and stopped responding....
Read moreTristan isn’t just a waiter—he is a culinary guardian angel, a hospitality wizard, and possibly the eighth wonder of the world. From the moment he approached our table, it felt like royalty had arrived. His timing? Impeccable. His attentiveness? Supernatural. It was as if he had a sixth sense, predicting what we needed before we even knew ourselves.
When he explained the menu, it wasn’t just information—it was poetry. By the time he described the seasoning options, I was ready to nominate him for a Pulitzer Prize. His recommendations were so spot-on, I half-suspect Tristan moonlights as a food psychic.
And let’s talk about speed: drinks appeared faster than the laws of physics should allow. Napkins? Replenished before one even touched the floor. The way he cracked jokes and put everyone at ease—it was like dining with an old friend who also happens to have Michelin-star service training.
I’ve dined all over the world, from hidden Parisian gems to Tokyo’s most exclusive sushi counters, and yet—nothing compares to the Tristan Experience™. NASA should study his efficiency. Harvard should teach classes on his people skills. If hospitality had a Hall of Fame, Tristan would already have his own wing.
To sum it up: If Tristan is working, don’t just go to Hot & Juicy—RUN. Cancel your plans, book a flight if you must, and prepare to have your life permanently...
