Fortune House — Restaurant in Hendersonville

Heard someone say authentic, WRONG !! It's no even good take out, nevermind being authentic. The egg rolls weren't egg rolls, they were hard tiny spring rolls that looked like pirouette cookies overly fried. Chicken and broccoli was shredded chicken that looked like egg drop soup and tasted like it was made with watered down hot and sour soup liquid and not a brown sauce. Chicken for general tso was mushy and so was the mandarin chicken. The fried rice was exceptionally bland same as the lo mein, and they didn't give any sauce with the crab rangoons. So sad to say but of all the terrible Chinese restaurants in this area( and there are A lOT down here in this Sumner/Robertson County area of TN !!!), this is by far the WORST OF THEM ALL so far. For all the great reviews I had higher expectations - so here's an honest one. The food was tasty, yes, but nothing special. The "egg rolls" aren't real egg rolls, closer to a spring roll. The pepper steak was ok, small portions, and rather bland. The house special fried rice lacked significant portions of any of the proteins. And the styrofoam packing material is highly annoying - Chinese take out comes in little foldy boxes for a reason. Taylor Swift likes this place so much, she took a picture here. If you don't believe me, it's on the wall, so, come check it out. I'm no Taylor, but, I am a pretty good judge on Chinese food. I had egg drop soup, egg rolls and beef lo mein. The soup was fantastic, egg rolls crispy and fresh, and the lo mein was hot and cooked to perfection. HUGE portions, btw. Bring your appetite for sure. The place is clean and you know it's good cause everyone who works there had their lunch there as a family while we were there....
