First visit, mostly underwhelmed. Typical chain sushi, which isn't inherently bad, but I am continually disappointed at how little effort seems to really go into places like this. I would gladly pay more for better quality ingredients, but I must be in the minority or surely we would see those options around.
I Arrived shortly after opening and was the only customer for at least 30-45 minutes. Food was fine, but just so. Nothing extraordinary or unique enough about it to make me rush back. The nigiri (tuna, yellowtail, and unagi) was mediocre which is basically par for the course in Hendersonville. The unagi was slightly better, but being cooked and sauced was the clear reason why. The names of the dishes which are a play on the rock genre were the best thing about the restaurant. I'd rather have regular names and better executed dishes, but this is their gig so to speak.
My server was clearly under the weather and that definitely affected the atmosphere overall. She had a bare minimum involvement and seated herself at a table between serving guests. Honestly, she shouldn't have been there at all. I felt bad for her, but there didn't seem to be any other servers there who could assist. Also, her assumption that I was done ordering food & beverage cost the restaurant additional sales as well as additional gratuity as she dropped the check without asking if I was done and didn't return except to run my card about ten minutes later.
One other point. At the beginning of my meal, I had asked the server to see if the chef/owner, who I could see from my seat, could spare a couple minutes to chat. Being my first time, I had a couple of questions for her and just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. After about an hour, I figured she must have been uninformed of my request so I left.
It's unlikely that I will return with what in my opinion are better options in the area. If they were brand new I would give them a little more latitude, but having been open over a year I'm afraid this is just how it is. I'm sure many will like it, but this set list just isn't for me....
Read moreWe walked in and no one greeted us for a couple minutes, it was awkward standing in the middle of lots of ppl eating, there was also no host stand or sign that said wait to be seated. So me, my wife and baby found and sat at an open table thinking it was a seat yourself situation. We sat, got our own highchair and read through the menus and about 15 minutes go by and no one greeted us the servers just walked by us like 12 times never even looking at us. 20 mins go by so I just stopped a server that was walking by and asked her if we had a server and she said it wasn’t self seating with some attitude so I asked her if she wanted us to go back to the front door and wait and she said no someone will be with you. The food was over priced and small portions. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had. Drinks were ok. Our server made all the difference she was amazing. I was just completely floored by the whole seating situation and being intentionally ignored for over 20 minutes. There was a loud rude group of couples being unnecessarily obnoxious and drunk we left at the same time they did and they all drove completely trashed from the restaurant. We waited until they were far away from us. We also watched as the manager/bartender? And other staff smoked next to the dining area windows. Like just go out back so we can’t see you? Idk. We most likely will never visit again. Terrible first impression.
Update: owner reached out and said they would like another shot, which I have much respect for and we will definitely give them another shot because we have had good experiences at other rock n roll sushi restaurants before. Glad to...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars I would. Absolutely the worst experience I have had in a very long time. My husband picked up our food which was supposed to be 3 meals 2 sushi rolls and 2 salads.. When he got home his meal was missing as well as the 2 salads. Frustrating but it unfortunately happens. Called and spoke to a girl. Who states she can not help with the situation at hand. She assured me the manager would call by the end of the night and refund the meal as we were not able to drive another 40 min round trip to pick up the missing food. At 9:59 the manager had not called back. I called and spoke to Christian who 1) hung up on me after I repeatedly asked him to call his manager. 2) he continues to say how they don’t have a manager the “owner” is at the Vanderbilt location. I finally told him as a mom I suggest he find another job since there is no one to manage the store and the owner doesn’t support the staff and does not care for paying customers. He supposedly called the manager 3 times (doubtful) but if it’s true this place seriously needs new leadership. I have worked in the service industry you can not run without a manager so this is VERY concerning. If the situation had been handled as it should have been I probably wouldn’t return but I also would not be warning others to stay away. I will never give this company another dime for sushi that probably came out of old hickory lake. Food is mediocre at best and when you steal people’s money you don’t deserve business. Heck, even fast food places take better care of their customers then this. Our warning should have been the 2 people in the place on a...
