My fiance and I visited this place from many recommendations I received saying that this establishment has the best subs and sandwiches around. Now to be fair, I haven't tasted anything other than their meatball sub, that's why I gave them a 3 star. First of all, lets talk about the customer service. The customer service was lacking, at least on the day that we went. The two individuals (I'm assuming the owners) that were there, didn't look like they wanted to be there. They didn't greet us with a warm welcome, or acknowledge our existence until we were ready to order. Second lets talk about the food. Now, My fiance and I both got hot sandwiches. So, maybe hot sandwiches aren't their forte. I ordered the meatball sub and my fiance ordered steak and cheese sub. Both meats were kept warm in warmers (Meatballs rightfully so). The roll for the meatball sub was not toasted or grilled before putting the meatballs and sauce on it and the whole thing was heated all together in a microwave, making the sub soggy and chewy. The steak and cheese, pretty much the same thing. When I order a steak and cheese sub, I expect the steak to be cooked on a grill with all of the toppings. Not to be kept in a warmer. also the meat wasn't seasoned. We both have had better subs at Jersey Mikes and Subway for the prices this place charges for subs. I may be back, to try their cold subs and give them another review based off...

I had lost hope of finding a fantastic local deli that specialized in Italian sandwiches long ago...until one day I discovered...The Deli Herndon. Starting off with the amazing decor, including some very vintage Washington Redskins memorabilia, I was immediately entranced in the experience that is The Deli Herndon. Next, I was pleasantly surprised at the great soda & beverage options, truly a mark of a great deli. Then...I was on the clock! Rule 1 of a local deli is to order quickly and have as little substitutions/variations as possible. The extremely friendly staff at The Deli Herndon assembled my two sandwiches in record time and just like that my experience had come to an end, I almost wanted to get back in line right away again just to do it all again. Finally...the first bite...exquisite. I got the "Mad Italian" and I can't wait to do it all over again. Sandwich 10/10, staff 10/10, setting/decor 10/10. RUN don't walk to my new favorite sandwich establishment...The...

4/5!

Definitely a fan of The Deli! I decided to try this place out after hearing all the positive reviews about their subs. I can say, was not disappointed. The store is a very simple Italian deli. You walk in, browse the menu and order at the counter, and it'll be made in seconds.

The Food: I went with the Mad Italian, which came with Capicola, Mortadella, Pepperoni, Genoa and Provolone. All the meats and ingredients worked very well together and everything there was quality. They were very generous with the portions as well. I left very full and satisfied.

The Service: The employees were nice. I came at a busy lunch time, but that gave me time to browse the menu and see all of their different selections. Once I ordered at the counter, they made my order fairly quickly and had me on my way. Overall, a smooth experience.

I'll be back here again! Always nice to know there's a place around me that offers quality...

I’m very transparent in my reviews as I own several restaurants and bars in North Carolina. That being said. When you walk in it gives off the old school deli vibes. Which is cool. You’re not greeted or told goodbye, have a nice day, etc. when I walk to the counter it was just a “yes” given by the gentleman. The sandwiches we had are basic toppings, which is okay. But needed salt and pepper. Not really any seasoning. It’s $20 for a foot long and $15 for a 8 inch. The meats and cheeses are fresh and high quality. But that’s not what makes a deli a deli in my opinion. The staff needs to make it feel like it and welcoming. The gentleman, which I assume is the owner or some type of manager honestly just seemed tired. I don’t know if he’s burnt out or what. Just seems he wants to be out of this kind of business.

In our order, the chicken parmesan sub had barely any chicken. It looked rather like a chicken breast had been cut into a long strip. The meat should equal the bread, nobody just wants a mouthful of bread with subs like these. When we called, the man on the other end said "have you seen the price of chicken?" Yes. We have. And what you should do to be a successful business is not skimp out on your customers. Raise the price a few bucks and give a proper portion, don't make excuses when people call and are unhappy.
