I've been coming to DiPiazza's for years and I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review, but better late than never. The employees who work there are wonderful people and very attentive. The owners are all hard workers and while a couple of them might seem rough around the edges, they have good hearts (I've known them for many years). I think of DiPiazza's as a true NY, Italian pizza joint where the food and the personalities are not typical to Hialeah.
As others have mentioned, the star of the menu is the pizza, but don't knock the other phenomenal items like the Carlo Ponti pasta (vegetarian but easily modded to be vegan), the eggplant parmesan, and the tiramisu. They have beers at a reasonable price, and the kids will be thrilled by the candy bowl at the counter that never seems to go empty.
I know half of Hialeah comes here because it's amazing and local, but I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for two years and during that time, I'd still make the trip to DiPiazza's to have a few slices. The thin crust and perfected sauce will keep you coming back again and again. It's my absolute favorite pizza place in...
Read moreI've been going to DiPiazza since I was 5. It literally is a tiny gem in Hialeah that I hold dear memories of. However, I've noticed in the past few months, their service has been horrible. I went with my mom to dinner on a Thursday night, and when arriving there we're 2 other tables with guests (I like to go before the big rush comes in). The waitress was the absolute worst. To a point where I only saw her 3 times my entire visit (saying hi to ask for drinks, bring my drink, and bring the food). She never came back to attend to my table. I had to ask multiple times, multiple employees to please ask her to come to the table, and she never did. The young gentleman (not sure if he is the bus boy or just a helper) ended up bringing me my to go box and I had to go to the front of the store to pay because it was over 20 mins and she had yet come to my table to get the payment. DiPiazza has amazing food, but with the service I've had a few times already makes me want to rethink before actually deciding...
Read moreHave been coming here for years. This is an institution in Hialeah. Sadly, this was my last visit. They charge you for refills, which was already an insult. But I forgave it because the pizza was so good. But now they have started charging a mandatory 3% service charge, which is not the tip. So I asked what exactly this was for? The server said it was not going to the staff, it went directly to the owners to cover cost of napkins, chees and condiments at the table etc. The prices here are already quite high (Medium Pizza $23, Average pasta dish $19) for a whole in the wall pizza place next to a coin laundry in Hialeah! This is not Coral Gables. The nickel and diming of patrons, many that, like me, have been coming here for years is unforgivable. The menu makes no mention of this mandatory charge. These owners will continue to take and take as long as we, the consumers, let them. I was a huge fan of this place. But based on this last visit, I can't support it anymore. Shame on them for ruining...
