WOW, it’s hard these days to experience a restaurant that offers amazing fresh food, amazing service and a wonderful atmosphere. You are usually sacrificing 1 or 2 of these options anywhere in Miami!
We came for brunch (3 of us) and are still dreaming and speaking of our experience, I’ve already recommended this place to a few people and although I went last weekend with family, I am taking some friends this upcoming weekend already!
FOOD Delicious. Everything we ordered was super fresh and perfectly cooked, I don’t think we had a single complaint or recommendation for how it could’ve been made better. My family are all excellent cooks and it never fails that they have something to say at every place we go to — a rare occurrence that they had no added suggestions!
For appetizers we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates and the Foie Gras pastelito. They were both delicious! We aren’t big Foie Gras people but we had to try it nonetheless.
The guava, pastelito crunch and pistacho overlay perfectly blended together with the Foie Gras taste. It was definitely an experience. 1 pastelito comes in the serving.
The dates were perfectly creamy within, and the bacon was perfectly crunchy on the outside! 4 dates come in the serving. A simple appetizer but it was a fan favorite!
For entres we shared family style and ordered the Steak & Eggs, Le Quack Madame and the Banana Flambé French Toast.
The steak was ordered medium, and it was a true medium! Done to perfection. High quality meat, it wasn’t gamy. A subtle crisp on the outside and soft medium on the inside.
Le Quack Madame Sandwich offered a nice twist to the Croque Madame. It was a perfect ratio of bread, duck, cheese and egg. We aren’t big fans of runny egg but the runny egg is absorbed by the bread, avoiding the dry bread feeling and compliments the entire dish very nicely.
The Banana Flambé French Toast was a perfect dessert to round out our meal, the bananas were plantains, with a wonderful rich maple caramel, and hazelnut overlay. The entire dish was not overly sweet, and although rich felt light.
For drinks, we ordered a Philippe Gonet Brut Champagne that was delicious by recommendation of our waiter, Chris! It was a perfect complimentary to the meal, with an excellent taste - highly suggest! And I ordered a cappuccino with honey as a sweetener rather than sugar, and was grateful for their openness to making that switch for me.
SERVICE We arrived almost 30 mins earlier than our reservation and they were able to seat us within 15 mins. I do recommend a reservation, this place gets backed and they have a long wait time!
Right from the start, our interactions with the entire staff were wonderful. The Host was cordial, and came by our table a few times to check up on us during the meal. Which is typically unheard of, but so appreciated.
Our waiter Chris was funny, attentive, knowledgeable, sharp and a pleasure to have! Thank you Chris, you made our entire experience that much more enjoyable!
And the rest of the staff was attentive, appreciative and cordial.
ATMOSPHERE It’s hard to believe a little gem like this could exist in South Florida, nonetheless Hialeah. You truly feel like you are traveling to Paris for the stay of your experience. We really did not want to leave!
The restaurant is well sized and they artfully divide the larger space into smaller rooms, giving it a cozy sensation. The music was at a soothing volume level, allowing for easy conversation. The lights were slightly dimmed and the day was gloomy adding to the ambience, the food smelled divine and the details of the entire place were very intentionally placed from artworks to postcards to the plates and glasses themselves.
The best part was that we left feeling satisfied and not overly full. That’s the difference with quality ingredients. Excited to be back and enjoy new dishes...
Read moreWe had reservations for 6 at 7:30pm. The parking situation is not ideal. When we arrived, the table was not set. Once we all sat down it took an additional 15min before we received our menus because they didn't have any. Which is odd. The waiter asked us to give him our entire order upfront: drinks, apps and main course because the kitchen was backed up. He shared the specials with us. We ordered a bottle of wine and sparkling water. For apps we initially ordered the melted cheese with bread, and the bone marrow. He came back and told us they didn't have bone marrow. So, we replaced the bone marrow with the flatbread and added one onion soup. For the main course we ordered the chicken, the rabbit, the duck, the gnocchi (from app section), the filet mignon (special) and the pork. The wine came out pretty quickly the water did not. The water came out like 20 min later. The apps came out 30 min after we ordered. The appetizers were just ok. The waiter came back to tell us they didn't have any more polenta for the pork dish so they would substitute it with a double order of potatoes instead of offering us other alternative sides. I had to ask what else they could substitute it for. They said salad (which was only arugula with dressing nothing else). They food came out. My food was cold but I was so hungry that I said nothing. When the filet mignon came out, it had some large whole peppers on the plate instead of the brussel sprouts the waiter had said came with the filet mignon. Keep in mind the filet was the special of the day so the waiter should have known they ran out. Again, the waiter did not offer any solution we had to suggest that they bring out an alternate side since the person who ordered the filet does not eat peppers (she got arugula) The proteins were all cooked and seasoned well. The gnocchi plate had 12 gnocchis on it with light sauce. Honestly even as an appetizer it was a joke. That person had to order a second plate of food. Also, we had called ahead and asked them if we could bring a cake to cut at the restaurant. They said yes but they failed to mention that they charge $15 plus tax per person to serve it for us. We only found out after we received the bill. So basically, an additional 90 plus tax on the bill. The decor is cute. But the place is very small and cramped. The bathroom reminds me of bathrooms in 2nd world countries. The services was ok. Considering we paid $100 per person you'd expect better service. This is not a place where you leave full. It's a french/cuban restaurant and complimentary bread was not offered. Also, they open at 5pm how could they have run out of bone marrow and brussel sprouts by 7:30pm?? We chose this place because of all the IG/TikTok hype but it is only ok. Not impressed, which sucks because I really wanted to like this place. Not ideal for families with little kids or...
Read moreWe recently hosted a bridal shower at La Fresa Francesa, and while the food and service from the staff were wonderful, the overall planning and communication for our event left much to be desired.
Upon arrival, our party was set up in the front room near the check-in counter, despite prior communication that we would be in a more private space. There was also no designated gift table, and the host was unaware of any such arrangement. Thankfully, Alex stepped in and moved us to the back room, but it was clear that no one had been briefed on the agreed-upon details between myself and the owner.
Service was disorganized—menus and water had to be requested after 30 minutes, and the servers were unaware of the pre-fixed menu we had arranged. They also did not have printed copies, so I had to forward the email from the owner myself to our guests, so they could order their food. There was further confusion when guests attempted to order from the agreed-upon selections, only to be told certain items were unavailable. This should not have been an issue given the extensive email correspondence leading up to the event.
Dessert was another disappointment—we were served crepes, without having ordered, instead of the French toast that was a key reason for booking the event. By that point, I no longer wanted to stress myself or the staff any further, as I know they were just trying to accommodate. I made the choice to stop trying to fix miscommunications and chose not to create more stress.
While Alex and the servers did their absolute best under the circumstances, and it was immensely appreciated, they were clearly not informed about the details of our booking. The lack of coordination, printed menus, and adherence to our agreed-upon plan created unnecessary stress for what should have been a seamless celebration. As a loyal customer, I was excited to share this restaurant with our group, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously to ensure better communication for future...
