Bistro 31 is a high-end restaurant right in the heart of Highland Park Village. I had a reservation for lunch. We were seated rather quickly. It was a busy Sunday afternoon, so only a 10 minute wait. On our way to the table, we were greeted by a beautiful white table clothed table for two. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He asked us what drinks we wanted to order and if we had any questions. My friend ordered the Bistro Margarita, and I ordered the famous Chanel No. 31. My friend said she would give the Bistro Margarita a 3.5/5. I would give the Chanel No. 31 a 4/5. It was very delicious with hints of peach which I love. Then we ordered an appetizer - the mini lobster tacos. It came with 3 tacos to share. The lobster was good. It was very light and perfect before the main course. For our entrees, my friend ordered the grilled salmon that came with english pea puree, artichokes, carrots, salmon calviar, and lemon butter. She liked her dish. I ordered the asparagus risotto with salmon added to it. It was supposed to come with shaved truffle. They made the risotto perfectly well cooked. But there were no truffle shavings. I was told by the server that the chef did not want to buy any truffle this season. However, they did somewhat compensate by giving me truffle oil on my dish. They are quick to accommodate. I was charged the full price of the dish without the truffle shavings (which the waiter did not tell me about until my food came to the table), and I paid $3 extra for the truffle oil added on to my dish. This is why I am giving the restaurant 3/5 stars. The menu should have been updated or expressed to me before I ordered my dish.
My friend and I ordered two white cosmos. They were really good. Then we shared a dessert - the chocolate torte bar. It had a rich chocolate flavor paired with red cherry coulis. I probably would try a different dessert next time. Lastly, I had an expresso martini to go with the dessert. It was very strong and paired well with the chocolate torte bar.
Overall, I would say that the experience was good. But expect to pay a lot of money for the location versus the actual meal...
Read more[ ] As a regular shopper, and diner of Highland Park Village, I was very familiar with the name of Bistro 31, but never visited. A personal invitation from an employee to stop by on a Friday, or Saturday night, inspired me to take the leap one evening after dinner at The Honor Bar. From the moment I passed through their entrance’s artisian arches I knew I was about to experience something this Miami guy only finds at home. Having the GM greet us at the door, and extend a warm invite was a wonderful start. Once you ascend the stairs to what transforms from a dining venue into a lounge/club experience, late evenings; you know you’re in for a great time. Keeping it honest, this may not be the, perfect experience for everyone, but for those who’ve experienced KIKI ON THE RIVER in Miami, this is absolutely your spot. The crowd encompasses pretty, open minded people of all demographics. Although there’s no room to really dance, the DJ still keeps you moving. Our Bartender Cameron, went out of his way to insure we found the perfect Japanese Whiskey for the night, and even severs, like Ari made our having a good time her priority. One of the challenging endeavors of using a dining space to create a party vibe is the comfort of the furniture. Even though I enjoy a spot at the bar; designing entertainment venues, makes it impossible for me, not to focus on the style, and comfort of seating, but none of the guest seemed to mind. I absolutely recommend people give Bistro 31 a try! You may just find your little piece of Miami, in Highland Park Village! See you at the bar!...
Read moreLounge 31 WAS my favorite lounge in Dallas. However, after my most recent visit I will not being going back. I went with a couple of friends, one of whom was visiting from out of town, and I wanted her to experience my favorite lounge in Dallas. When we got our table we were asked by our waitress, Rik, for a card to hold our tab. Long story short, Rik, ended up losing my credit card. But that wasn't the most disappointing aspect of it. We had three separate tabs, and instead of communicating to us what was going on, she avoided our table when we asked for our tab to leave. I had to get up and go find her and ask her for my card and our change, at which she immediately handed me server books that didn't belong to our table. I asked to speak to the manager on duty that night, Jake, who was too concerned with arranging chairs for a crowd that wasn't even at their lounge. Although arranging his chairs was of utmost importance he was finally able to separate himself to tell me they lost my card and didn't know where it was. During the whole process, Rik, our waitress tried to give me someone else's credit card not once, but twice! I could've had a great shopping spree the next day on someone else's credit! And who knows what drinks were being charged to these people's tabs. They finally found my card, after I went through the hassle of canceling it. The whole incident was handled EXTREMELY poorly, and without the professionalism I would expect from a Lombardi business. I definitely will not be coming back, and will advise my friends and colleagues to...
