I’m going to be an outlier here but woof; This place was bad. First and foremost - what is with their dinners. It’s the most random assortment of options I’ve ever seen. Gordon Ramsay would have an aneurysm. It’s like..
Option 1: 1 taco, 1 tostada rice and beans Option 2: 1 burrito, 1 enchilada, 1 quesadilla
It’s just random assortments with no rhyme or reason. I’ve never seen this anywhere else in my life.
I couldn’t decide what I wanted, but had eaten a lot recently and wanted something lighter so I did the veggie #1. Food took FOREVER to come out - 45+ minutes - when there were literally 4 tables of people there.
Food arrives, and it’s one tortilla which I guess is an enchilada, one larger item that looks like a larger enchilada, and a giant pile of lettuce with sour cream on it. Both the tortillas had this red sauce on it.
The tortilla for the enchilada was uncooked. What? I’ve never seen this in my life. Inside was cheese - and the cheese was sweet, in contrast to the very odd tasting sweet red sauce, it was… not good. I’ve never seen a raw flour tortilla wrapped around cheese as a dish.
Then I get to the bean burrito. It was literally another uncooked tortilla - maybe slightly warmed - filled with… wet beans. That’s it. Just wet beans. I’m expecting beans and maybe cheese. Oh and it has the same red sauce as the enchilada. It was not good at all.
I finally realized that the giant pile of lettuce and sour cream was a tostada. Soggy corn tostada with again - wet beans on it. Wet beans, a forest of lettuce and a huge pile of runny sour cream.
Staff was very nice. Ambiance was two TVs playing non-stop over sexualized Mexican music videos and very odd decor.
I guess in a suburb where most businesses can’t stay afloat - how many places have opened and closed in the last 5-10 years here - people are starving for variety. But...
Read moreMan! Me and my lady are incredibly heart broken hearing that blue margarita will be closing 😭 we come here on Sundays after a long couple hours of cleaning businesses! They have the best customer service! Food is always hot and fresh. The environment is relaxing peaceful and comfortable. We love that the same people work there every time we go in. They know us and our order! They check on you while you eat but not obnoxiously like other restaurants. You never felt singled out while eating. Different ethnicities always came in while we ate and all tables were treated the same! Their blue margarita was the best! I wish I knew a lot of people so we can go fill all the tables for their finally good bye! ✌️
If you guys open up in Schaumburg LET US KNOW!! We will be there!!!
This restaurant, the staff, the owner, the food the service, the lay out, the butterfly decor felt like home felt like going to grandmas house!
Everybody who walked past BLUE MARGARITA slept on you. They shoulda stopped and ate cause this would have been the place for life!
We LOVE YOU BLUE...
Read moreIf I could give this wonderful restaurant 6 stars, I would. We recently went there for the first time, on a snowy Friday evening. Unfortunately, there were almost no patrons there besides us, likely due to the weather and folks traveling for school spring break. The food was delicious and portions were generous. The wait staff were responsive and courteous. The owner stopped by several times to be certain we were satisfied. I can't recommend this place more highly. One very minor and correctable criticism: the shrimp in the quesadilla had their tails left on. I personally don't eat shrimp tails. It was necessary to remove them before enjoying the dish. Despite the existence of several other good Mexican cuisine locations in Highland Park, we will doubtless return here often to enjoy fine dining. I would encourage anyone reading this to go to Blue Margarita's frequently to ensure they remain in Highland Park. Update December 2024: Another great meal here. We always appreciate the friendly wait staff and...
