Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Highland Park

I should have trusted my better judgement. As I approached the establishment, I notice a man and woman (employees) sweeping up the parking lot. Nothing out of the normal, except...wait! THEY ARE WEARING THEIR PLASTIC APRONS STILL. I said to myself "well at least they won't be touching my food." (So I thought) I went in made my order and tried to switch an item. They would not let me. A better church's let's you. I wanted to switch my order. The young and very dumb kid still tried to charge me for the meals, the same price, and with one of the sides gone! So I step back, to think of a whole new order, and let others order. A long line began to form, so the lady and guy came back in from the parking lot. I look to see if I can see if she changes her apron or washes her hands...I can't. But she steps from the back "drying" her hands with paper towel. She takes my order. Lucky for me it's packed and cold from when the young dumb one made it. I had decided to just get the side I wanted separately. I got home said my grace (prayers) and dug in. It was disgusting!!! The chicken was cold, but not cold like it's been in the box on the way home (which the churches is 200feet from me) but cold like it's hours pass throw out time. The biscuit is totally gross and stale. The worst part was the $2.00 baby size mac n cheese (which with the flavor it had was enough) I ordered. It was awful. It tasted spoiled. It was the only part of the food that was warm. Probably from all the bacteria having a fun fest on it, creating frictional reactions. Anyway, I threw it all away. I felt that was a better option than trying to take it back. They would have just tried to offer me another awful meal. I mean the chicken had no flavor it was so old. They need an inspection done. A surprise one. I believe the chicken is not being changed, the foods are not being temp checked or switched every two-four hours. I'll be calling my friend who knows a few health inspectors before...

so let’s first start with the wait in the dining area took me over 30 mins for one meal. i didn’t complain. then the dining area is filled with random ppl asking for change (while i’m at the counter mind you, so it’s not like the employees care to put them out) or just loitering. i didn’t complain. when i got a total of ten fries in my regular size fry, i didn’t complain. even when they gave me old chicken from the box warmer i didn’t complain i just asked for it to be replaced but the cherry that topped off the tirade of bad customer service is when i asked the man working the counter if i could use the restroom to wash my hands with my daughter and he told me that the restroom wasn’t open and gave me a cup filled with water to dip my hands in to wash them. are you for real? lol what in the savagery is that?? who does that? if you have a dining area you have to know people will have to use the bathroom after waiting 35mins + to get our food we were hungry and decided to eat in the lobby. at the very least people want to wash their hands!! if your bathroom is broke then have wet naps or hand sanitizer or don’t have seating for dine in. also it’s clear the owner doesn’t care about the complaints it’s a chicken spot in a black community lmao they only care about the money and respond to positive reviews not about a solution to the terrible...

It was my first time at this establishment today. I made a huge order. I requested specifics for my order. When they finally came to the window, she pretended to forget that I asked for specifics and tried to only give me what they had. I had to remind her of the requested options. She said my specifics would take longer, I was asked to pull around. I am a handicapped individual that deal with severe health & personal issues. When I walked in the manager was arguing with a black man that was making his order. During the argument with the man she turned around to her employee and was yelling in her native Indian language. I requested to use the restroom, I was in a dire situation…after all I am a paying customer…she said the restroom was out of order. Both restroom doors were locked she sent me to Dunkin’ Donuts a couple of doors down. I went there and they too had the restroom doors locked, I said I really need to use the restroom, if I do not get a restroom soon, I’m gonna have a public accident. She went and got the key and unlocked the MENS RESTROOM. I told her I do not feel comfortable going in the men’s room and she was forcefully adamant on me using that restroom and not the women’s restroom. I do not know if either establishment have a corporate office but I am interested in speaking to them about these two...
