Grain and Berry - Highland Village — Restaurant in Highland Village

This particular Grain and Berry just opened recently, and we had never been to one before, so we decided to try it out tonight. The online website looked very promising, and we picked out what we wanted to order before we even arrived. We got our food to-go.

It wasn't exactly up to our standards or what the website portrayed. The food was prepared really messily, and there was sauce, jam, etc. on the outsides of both our to-go boxes and in the plastic bag. The food was also not what we had hoped taste-wise. We didn't try any juice or smoothies.

I ordered the Go Fig or Go Home quesadilla, and it was super sweet. I expected sweetness, but it was overpoweringly sweet. I think the fig jam they use is too sweet, and they drizzled way too much sweet balsamic glaze on top. It had enough balsamic for at least two quesadillas. There was also barely any brie cheese inside. I could hardly taste the brie, and it was hard to find it when opening up the quesadilla. More brie would have helped the sweetness. It also didn't seem to have any salt like the ingredients stated, and that would have helped balance it, too.The quesadilla was pretty soggy and didn't look anything like the video of it online.

My partner had the Kickin Chicken quesadilla, and he said it was fine taste-wise, but not amazing. It was also very messy, but not soggy. He said he would order it again, but it wasn't anything special.

We will probably try this place again due to the lack of healthy options around, but I would not order the Go Fig or Go Home again. I think maybe there is some room for improvement in the quality of food assembly/preparation and balance of ingredients used, so hopefully that improves since this place...

Jacob the owner has no clue to how run a business or even communicate with his Employees. He REFUSES to give you the legal new hire paperwork REQUIRED for employment. He will pay you "under the table" at a lesser rate of pay you were hired at and to avoid paying taxes. Again, ILLIEGAL. You also wILL NEVER have access to your own paystubs. I have asked for copies of these MULTIPLE times and still have not received them as promised. Therefore, this review will go back up and stay up. So much more to say, but I'll leave it at that. Most of these "5 star reviews" are from the Owners friends and family. Find somewhere else to go becase this...

Consistently Delicious! My Go-To Spot Since Day One! I have been a dedicated customer of Grain & Berry since the day they opened their doors, and my visit today was no exception—it was absolutely "Delicious"! I am completely addicted to two menu items in particular: the Thanks a Brunch and the Superfood bowls. Honestly, I can't get enough of them! A pro tip for anyone new: the spirulina base is my absolute favorite and is what truly elevates their bowls…plus so many health benefits!
