The ambiance is quaint and clean. The parking lot was packed but there was no wait. Your temperature will be checked before being sat. The tables and chairs are clean and clear of any debris (but there was a small amount of debris on the ground). Tables are spaced far enough apart for comfort and current regulatory regards.
The staff. They are definitely kind and seems caring. Even though my server had many tables, she was definitely focused on my order.
The Service. Water/Greeting: within the first 2 minutes. My server was very courteous. Introduced themselves, asked of my day and provided menus.
Ordering: There were many great choices. I struggled with choosing between Migas, Steak and Eggs, & the Old Fashion. I chose to go with Steak & Eggs (in my eyes a true test of quality/skill). But I also wanted an ala carté Omelet (the Bacanado). My server provided options and suggested a money saving idea of adding the steak as a side to the omelet for a minimum up-charge (I truly appreciate someone saving me money). I also got a Lingon Berry crêpe. I choice pancakes over toast. They come with sweet cream drizzle and powder sugar. I opted out of the powder sugar.
The issue came when I got my order. The kitchen mixed my steak (ordered Medium) into my Omelet and did not add sweet cream to my pancakes 😠. My server was great. Took it back (no issue, no unnecessary conversation) and came back with a dish of sweet cream for my pancakes. Also, very apologetic. The manager even stopped by to exclaim concern for the mix-up. My order was corrected with haste and accuracy.
The food. Steak: well prepared. Asked for medium and it was delivered medium. The meat was tender and not overly seasoned. Also, there seemed to have added homemade garlic butter.
Pancakes [Qty. 2]: Fluffy, spongy and firm to the fork. I layered it with the butter and then sweet cream. I then added the provided syrup (taste homemade) delivered warm...atop the pancakes. All I can say is "magical". They seem to melt when eaten and flavors were sooo complimenting. The sweet cream was not excessively sweet. The syrup had a buttery deliciousness. The bite was not doughy nor chewy.
Lingon Berry crêpe: the crêpe was warm and light in flavor. The Lingon berry has a flavor reminiscent of the sweetness of grapes and the tart of raspberry (65/35 split).
I was given a homemade salsa and hot sauce....the salsa definitely was scratch made. In fact, I believe many items are scratch made here. They should definitely tout a bit more if it is true. Definitely a quality meal delivered timely. I will be back....and that is saying a lot as I am a bit of a...
Read moreETA: after looking at other low rated reviews I thought I should add something else. We weren’t given a bill to show us the breakdown of how we were charged. They just shove a payment device at you and stand there while you pay. Didn’t give us an opportunity to go over the bill. My mom paid so I wasn’t really paying attention at the time. I don’t know if the option to review the bill is on the device but if it is the servers should tell us. I’m not sure she even got offered a receipt after she paid. I think that is bad business practice.
Drove a little out of our way for breakfast with my mom (on a Friday morning) per her suggestion cuz we were a little ways from home and there were no sit down breakfast options on the way home. The staff at the door gave us a very warm welcome. The parking lot was packed so I was worried about having to wait while my tummy was rumbling but even tho the place was fairly busy we were seated right away. The menu had a lot of options for “berries and batter” which all sounded amazing if I was looking for a sweet treat but I’m not one to eat sugary foods for breakfast so I opted for a regulation eggs/hasbrown/sausage meal. The food came quick but it was only good at best. Nothing to write home about. Nothing I couldn’t get anywhere else. The portions were perfect tho. Not too much not too little. The place was very clean. I used the restroom and it was also clean. I did notice the air vents on the ceiling were filthy. I know it’s not an easy task to get up there and clean them but it’s something that needs to be done regularly. I couldn’t help but think about all the dust that could be blowing around getting in the food. The reason I gave the atmosphere only one star is because it is insanely loud inside. As soon as I walked in I knew I was gonna be miserable. It sounded like I was in a packed auditorium. I noticed one server had to bend a little bit to hear what his table was ordering. I felt like I couldn’t have a decent conversation without having to speak louder than I normally would. It made for a very unpleasant experience. Made me wish I would’ve stuck with my original plan to grab McDonald’s on our way home. I found myself rushing to finish my food while mentally willing my mom to eat fast so we could get out of there as soon as possible. For that reason alone I will never go back if I’m in the area looking...
Read moreI always prided myself to be the type of person who doesn’t resort to writing reviews when I have a bad experience, but this experience was too awful to not warn others about. I want to start this by saying that due to religious reasons, I do not eat pork. When ordering one of their paninis that comes with bacon, I asked that they make it with no bacon. When the panini came out, it had bacon on it. That’s fine, mistakes happen. I kindly told the food runner, to which he said “the ticket even says no bacon, I’ll send it back”. Not even a minute later, he came back with a panini with no bacon. Clearly all they had done was remove the bacon and sent back the same dish. At this point I had to lie and say that I had an allergy to bacon because I knew this would be the only way to ensure they remade the sandwich. I’m not the type to ask to speak to a manager at the expense of not wanting to be a “Karen”, but my mom insisted. At the very least, we felt it was important for the manager to know what was going on in the kitchen to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Turns out the manager was actually in the kitchen at the time and fully supported the action of returning the same dish. She met us with a very combative tone and refused to be understanding of the situation. She blamed us and said we should’ve told the waiter that we were allergic from the beginning. The truth of course is that I’m not allergic; however, because of their lack of respect for religious restrictions, I had to lie. I tried to reason with the manager and help her understand that due to religious restrictions, they should be more attentive to their customers requests to remove ingredients such as pork. I told her that if it wasn’t serious, I wouldn’t have sent it back but rather removed the bacon myself. Her response was that they would only be attentive to a request to make an item without an ingredient in the case of an allergy. She went on to say that any other reason is a “preference” which apparently makes it okay to simply remove the ingredient and send back the same dish. I was appalled. It’s pretty sad that I have to lie and say I have an allergy in order to make sure I’m not unknowingly eating something restricted by my religion. I’m writing this review to warn anyone who may be in similar...
