MARIANA'S PIZZERIA & LATIN GRILL — Restaurant in Hillsborough Township

I had high hopes for Mariana's, located near the Wawa and Rita's Italian Ice in Hillsborough New Jersey. Based on reviews and another individual's pizza ranking for Hillsborough, NJ, Mariana's scored quite high and I assumed it would be a hidden gem. Unfortunately, I must have missed something.

The pizzeria itself has a fairly clean and spacious seating area that can fit larger crowds. The register and counter area seems somewhat cluttered and messy. The staff was friendly enough and the atmosphere was pretty normal. Unfortunately, none of this could make up for the quality of the pizza.

The base of the pizza was clearly undercooked featuring a gummy, doughy core. The overzealous seasoning did not help the flavor of the slice, which was fairly bland overall. The chicken parmesan slice wasn't any better. That slice was also undercooked and the chicken wasn't very appetizing. It was a strange consistency as if it were unsure whether to be crispy or chewy. Perhaps I got a bad batch or just went at a bad time, but I was fairly disappointed...

Where do I start? Nester put together a graduation feast of kings! And he even agreed to let me pick up a day they aren't usually open which was appreciated and he didn't even know me. Rice and beans, penne vodka, chicken parm, chicken marsala smothered in fresh mushrooms swimming in wonderful sauce, tasty tacos, salad with homemade dressing, and tangy crunchy wings. So. much. food. Made to perfection - no soft mushy noodles, no soggy or greasy over-oiled chicken. I can attest the day after, every thing is as good if not better than the day before which is great because there was so. much. food. We fed a family gathering, then graduates as they poured in later in the day, and still had leftovers of the best kind for the many teenagers in this house as well as lunches for work. I just ordered from this place tonight for the first time to get pizza for my friend and I, and WOW!!! I was blown away!! I ordered a medium chicken broccoli Alfredo pie and it was absolutely OUTSTANDING! Way better than previous places I’ve ordered pizza from! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender and the broccoli was crunchy without being soggy. The cheese and sauce blended perfectly together and didn’t cause me any heartburn or other major GI issues. I have GERD so eating foods like pizza can obviously cause it to flare up, but this pizza didn’t do that! It was so filling without being heavy or causing me major fatigue afterwards.
