This place sometimes get busy just because there are not many Thai food places locally. It is not about the food or the services. There is just not enough competition.
We went there on a Sunday afternoon, not very busy. We came from another gathering, so the two adults were not hungry and did not order anything. Actually we did not even touch anything. The three kids ordered their food. The food was ok.
Then it came the bill. Just like some other reviewers said, they automatically added 18% gravity to the bill. I spoke with the lady at the front. She said it is store policy to add it automatically if it is a party of 5 or more. I said the two adults did not even touch anything, but she said it does not matter since she had to set up the table and we had to tip her for that. The young tall waiter added that, if we do not like the policy, we do not have to come again.... Very interesting.
We normally tip people pretty well. We even tip waiters more than 15% for buffet. But we would never want to be forced to tip them, particularly we did not use their service. So I simply said we would not pay the tip they added. To the end, I paid the bill and some tip, but not at the amount they automatically added. They made some verbal noise, and I did not care. I think even that tip is more than what their attitude deserved.
They could have handled the situation in a different way, but they did not. Their attitude was very bad. Just for a couple of $ tip, they would want to lose the customers.
For the bad attitude, I won't recommend this place to anyone. There are better Thai...
Read moreabsolutely disgusted with their customer service. Been going here for years and over the last year it's been declining. The owners are rude inconsiderate and the food portions have been ridiculous for the amount of money that you spend here. On one occasion I've come here and there was literally a quarter cup of food in the entire container. Recently I have ordered and put in special instructions to leave out of sauce do to severe food allergies. I've been accommodated by them and other Thai places before. But when receiving the item I double checked and they did not make it special to order which I paid for. also anything else we ordered was left out of the order. When I called the owner and spoke to her she told me that I can just eat the food I'm allergic to Or come back in and pay for a new one. Their customer service is horrible and the owners are nasty. incredibly inconsiderate and rude. We continually try to give them another chance but this is the last one will receive from us!! They only received one star because I'm unable to give them a zero star rating. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of customer service and respect for individuals with severe allergies. Though I've had several other bad experiences with this establishment, I've always try to give them "another chance", but this time was different. I would advise anyone in the Hillsborough area to avoid this place due to the insensitive...
Read moreWe had heard great things about Ricky's Thai in Hillsborough and were eager to try the food there. When we arrived at 11:30 AM, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were the first customers of the day. Even though the physical size of the restaurant is on the smaller side, it doesn't feel cramped since the tables have been carefully arranged to give each party their own dining space. The food, however, left much to be desired. The flavor was medicore; lunch special portions were small, and our meal was overall not a great deal for the price. My son and I had ordered two dishes of Vegan Kao Pad, and were explicit in letting our server know that we both have severe food allergies. We asked if it would be possible for our food to be cooked separately and were assured that this would not be an issue. I was shocked to find chicken in my dish and beef in my son's but when this was brought to the attention of our waitress, she simply shrugged and said: "Oh. Sorry." before walking away. We weren't expecting a free meal, but at least offer to remake the dish so we can...
