I cannot believe the level of disrespect I received this morning at Ronnie's Bagels. I have lived in the area my whole life until more recently moving to nyc. I still ALWAYS have looked past negative reviews and came here despite all the drama surrounding this bagel shop. Today, I'm done. I ordered a sesame flat bagel with butter and I wanted to pay with my debit card. An older man with long, unkept hair who looked already annoyed ringing customers up, pointed to a $10 min on a credit card sign without saying anything. I asked if he had an ATM. He shook his head and gave me a dirty look. He then took my bag and motioned, I couldn't have what I ordered. Now, I totally understand Ronnie's being a small business and not taking under $10 on a credit card. Although, most of my generation no longer carries cash. In fact, so places in nyc don't accept cash when using the system "Square" but either way if the man the behind the counter wasn't so rude and dismissive even before I got up to the counter, I would have happily went to the bank across the street and got cash for them, as I do really enjoy their bagels. I believe this is one of the owners as every single time I see him he looks bitter and annoyed treating the rest of the staff like they are beneath him. If I'm not mistaken I often see his sons, who are about my age running the shop and they seem much nicer and customer oriented. Hopefully this rugged, bitter man works out his issues in hopes to save his business as this is a 2 star bagel shop in an area with a lot of competition....
Read moreStopped in this place randomly, they had a real nice selection of bagels, which got me pretty excited. I even sent a picture to a buddy of mine! Showing off things like the French toast bagel and the jalapeño cheddar bagel. So I gave it my standard test, Taylor ham egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. My First hint was when I received the bag. It was not warm, and had very little weight to it. When I opened the wrapping my heart was broken. The Taylor ham and egg were so meager that I would have likely ended up with more to eat if I asked for a peanut butter sandwich. Even if I asked to double the egg and meat, it would have still been less than any of my normal spots. (The bag wasn’t hot because the bagel was not toasted) but I’m not even holding that against them. Some places do a great job, but I end up having to ask for double egg and double Taylor ham. Which won’t stop me from going back there. I just know I will have to spend the extra money to have it done right. This spot does not warrant a...
Read moreIf you love bagels, then this is the place for you. I'm sure that Ronnie is smiling down from Bagel Heaven. Prices are a little more than I'd like to pay, but the quality is top notch. The customer service for the most part is good, not extraordinary but good. The assortment of steaming hot fresh bagels is more than your can fill your pantry with. Their selection of homemade cream cheese options are some of the best this side of the Hudson River. Too boot, they now have an in house baker that used to be one of the owners and head baker from B&W Bakery in Hackensack. The prices are slightly higher than his old place, but the quality is the same. I may have a bit of a biased opinion, since I am there close to...
