Cactus Street Cantina is a nice, intimate, casual Mexican restaurant that serves upscale street tacos and burritos and other assorted Mexican favorites. For our visit, we kept it basic, ordering between us pollo taco, al pastor taco, carnitas taco, beans, rice, chips & salsa, and street corn. Everything was delicious! The tacos featured generous portions of protein along with interesting sauces and toppings. The beans tasted like good homemade pinto beans. The rice was fluffy and satisfying, although honestly, the beans are much more impressive. The salsa was mild and had a nice tomato taste with just a hint of heat. And the street corn was excellent - crisp, flavorful, and roasted just right! We really enjoyed the casual nature of the restaurant. Diners can choose to sit wherever they like. Menus are available from a menu holder near the entrance. Once diners decide what they would like, they approach the counter to order, and soon the food is delivered to their table. Beverages are self-serve, just the way I like it. Alcoholic drinks are also available. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the food is delicious. We very much liked our experience and plan to return. The food is not quite the typical fare you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. It has an "island twist," and that's a good thing! It makes the food interesting! Next time I'll try a couple different varieties of tacos, probably shrimp and carne asada. Can't wait!

This place is a must! The quesadilla was thick and delicious. Plenty of blackened shrimp. The tuna bowl my husband had was great! The queso we shared as an app was sooo good! We easily could have shared the queso and quesadilla as a meal. The food came out super fast. Hot. Neatly plated. We had a traditional margarita and a spicy margarita, we were both very happy with our drinks so we each had a second. The place was immaculate! The restrooms are combo male/female (singles), I love that, as we know the girls always have a line while the men's is empty! Clean, spacious and I love not having to deal with hand blowers or paper towel dispensers. They offer a stack of nice folder paper towels. We'll be back! Can't wait! *Return visit: 10/17/24. We've been back many times. The shrimp ceviche has become my go-to. Today I decided to change up to the ahi tuna bowl and it was great. My husband had the burger special, I don't know what all was on that thing, but not just a hamburger patty! I know there was sausage and another meat or two. He really liked it. We've never left here disappointed. They were really busy today at 2 pm and it's Thursday!

There’s a reason this place has a lot of 5-star ratings and it’s because they deserve it! Good, clean Mexican food is hard to find and we have a Mexican family-run restaurant in Cincinnati that we absolutely love. This restaurant is every bit as good as our Cincy favorite and it has made our “Must Have List” any time we visit HHI. We ordered the Three Amigos to share and everything about it was delicious - the chips, salsa, guac, and queso - nothing to dislike about any of this! My wife had the Blackened Shrimp Quesadilla and the shrimp was cooked perfectly and everything else in the quesadilla worked in perfect harmony. Delicious! I had the Three Tacos plus 1 with refried beans that had great taste and didn’t resemble paste like so many others, pork belly taco (yum), Baja fish taco (delish), and boom boom shrimp taco (my favorite). Love the food and the family-like feeling we had while we were there and looking to stop back before we head home this weekend. Such an awesome place - go visit it - you don’t be disappointed!

Absolutely top class. Like the first poster said, there's a reason for all the 5 stars. A fairly new place. Walked in to a warm atmosphere, nice, cozy dinning room about 25 minutes to closing. The staff was excellent. Made sure to introduce us to the menu, which had many options but wasn't over the top. Everything tasted delicious and was clearly fresh made. Great salsa, (There is a serious lack of even mediocre salsa on Hilton Head) so right away we knew it would be better than the rest. All staff was enjoying the evening and right on top of everything from refills to two easy, non intrusive check-ins to make sure we were enjoying everything. Our table and all unused tables were clean and ready to feed the masses. Then the meal came ...... Outstanding tacos. We tried the carne asada, shrimp and ahi tuna. All outstanding. It's next to impossible to get high quality Ahi at a roughly 3 oz measure in a taco for $6, and it was perfect. Rare, no grey edges from a aubpar sear, perfect. Carne was tender and tasty. I'm not a fan of light cream corn relish, but I could eat theirs any day. Smooth fresh, delicious. Prices are excellent, definitely worth it. Mom and I dropped $23 on an excellent meal. Clean bathrooms, zero corn syrup residue on the soda machine, polished silverware, etc, all the little things you look for if you also work in the food service industry to know owners and staff take pride in their work. HIGHLY recommended. There's only one thing I don't like about it......it's not located in Greensboro, North Carolina!!!!

A MUST visit if you're in Hilton Head. Thanks to the staff for a great meal we'll see you...
