We couldn't decide on a vegetarian restaurant nearby or Casablanca on Hilton Head Island for lunch. I was hungry and wanted a bit more substance so we opted for falafel from Casablanca.
The guy working the register knew the menu and ingredients. It's so comforting to know your food is vegan and won't upset any food allergies. We always love a good baba ganoush but some places it's not vegan. He knew right away theirs was and when asked about the yogurt he said it is no longer used in their recipe. He also let me know the balsamic rice side had dairy when I asked about it. I am so appreciative of a restaurant willing to make a true vegan dish, honest when something isn't vegan, and also knowledge about all of it. Thank you for that Casablanca!
My wife and I both ordered a falafel wrap with a single side of baba ganoush. All of it was excellent! The pita was super soft but kind of a thick consistency (liked that). It really paired well with the baba ganoush for dipping. The baba ganoush was very flavorful. Good stuff for sure.
Falafel was great too. The pita held together well and all the toppings were fresh. It came with house made chips that were tasty. They were handy for getting every bit of baba ganoush scooped up. It was a perfect amount of food as we both left satisfied and not miserable.
All the employees were hard working and friendly. I really love finding restaurants like this. A place that really cares about the food they're serving and what their customers think. We'll definitely come back when we're back in the area....
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Casablanca during my stay at Hilton Head earlier this week. I was craving Greek/Mediterranean food so I looked online and came across this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the owner was actually from Morocco, given that the restaurant name “Casablanca” is that of a moroccan city. Being for Morocco myself, I really miss the food and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try it out.
I went with my best friend, and as soon as we walked in we were nicely greeted by the smiling owner who gave us a very warm welcome. I also got to chat with him and he was very sweet. We ordered the food, waited for about five minutes, and then the owner himself brought it to us: THIS WAS THE BEST FOOD OMG MY PALET NEVER FELT MORE ALIVE!!!! I suddenly felt like I was back home 😍 everything was perfectly seasoned and fresh and so tasty! Having been in the US for so long I completely forgot what good food actually taste like!!! I tried out a few restaurants in Hilton Head, but I have to say Casablanca is by far my favorite.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Me and my best friend had an incredible experience and we will definitely be...
Read moreI get the feeling this place would be very good if any of the food was cooked fresh or made to order. Anytime we have family visit, they inevitably request Mediterranean cuisine, so we found this place on the island. What got us through the door were the pictures of the rotisserie meats grilling and being sliced fresh, but when we arrived, everything was switched off. This should have been our sign to walk out. We got the Mediterranean sampler, which read to us like a generous serving of everything. It resulted in the skimpiest plate of mini appetizers with a couple globs of their ganoush and hummus. And of course, nothing says "dining in" like your toum being served in a plastic sauce cup. We also had a chicken salad with reheated chicken and a whole tomato cut into quarters, so you can pretend you have red teeth. The worst was that everything was cold and tepid. Obviously, it is a reheated product without any care or thought. We also had the pleasure of watching one of the six people making our food dig into his teeth with bare hands as he...
