The Gyro Shop — Restaurant in Hinesville

I had been hearing a lot about this restaurant since it's been under new management and decided to give it a try. The place was empty when I visited, so I was able to order immediately. I didn't have to wait too long for my food to be prepared. They have two stacks of menus sitting on the counter. When I entered, I grabbed one thinking that was the entire menu, but it was only one page. So, if you're taking a menu to go, be sure to grab a page from both stacks. The owner and the cooks were very nice. We chatted as I awaited my food. The food was just okay. Perhaps, because I've been to Greece and had authentic food, I'm a bit biased. I absolutely did not like the presentation of the food in the to go box (see video). I would advise putting the tzatziki sauce in one of those 2 oz containers instead directly in the to go box. I was getting a prescription filled at krogers and seen the Gyro shop and decided to try it out. Greeted as soon as I entered the door! Wish I would have caught their names, but they were fun and entertaining as I told them it was my first time there! The younger gentleman broke down the entire menu for me! I ordered just the large gyro with the Carolina reaper sauce. Both had smiles on their faces the entire time and we all had a great conversation while they were prepping the Gyro. I could only eat half at the time for lunch then ate the other for dinner. I have never been to Greece, but I’ve been to Amalfi Coast Italy which is in eyesight of Greece and so they have gyros Italian style there. Let me tell you, hands down the best Gyro I’ve ever had. Hands down one of the best spots in Hinesville!

From the moment I walked into The Gyro Shop, I was impressed. The customer service was absolutely top-tier — friendly, welcoming, and fast. The place was spotless, from the dining area to the kitchen view, which really shows how much pride they take in keeping things clean and professional.
