Empire Buffet — Restaurant in Hobbs

Everyone here is always so nice. And not once had we ever had a bad experience or bad food. This restaurant is consistent. If they had a huge dinner rush, they are quick to refill the trays. There is a person dedicated to the buffet area and she keeps her eye out for messes or any trays getting low. (I always feel like she’s watching me as I get a ridiculously massive amount of the soup wontons lol 🙈) Everyone has a specific job, and it keeps the place running smoothly no matter how busy they are. And the food, come on, chefs kiss. This place has always been my favorite, but when they added the coconut chicken to the lineup…I crave it all the time. And then bananas with red sauce is so simple yet so deliciously explosive. I’ve tried other places, and everything there tasted the same because they just used the same oil all day. This place is fresh and everything holds its own...

When I go out to eat at a new restaurant there are 3 things I always want to see and those are, a clean establishment, friendly staff, and good tasting food at an affordable price. This place has it all! The lunch buffet was only $12.00 per person and with drinks our meal came to only $26.00. The food was fantastic and their Coconut Chicken was amazing! I tried so many different item and everything was good. The staff and service was fantastic and the atmosphere great. The restaurant had a more open feel to while still providing plenty of seating. The only downside I saw was that I felt that the bathrooms could really use a damn good cleaning. First let me say 2 things:

1. I HATE buffet, especially Chinese buffet
2. I have lived in Hobbs 16 months and I've avoided The Dragon and The Empire like the plague

I made the worst decision today to try The Empire against my better judgement. Every conceivable notion I have about Chinese buffet has come to pass.

First, I'll state the good. If it came pre-packaged and then heated or fried, it was probably okay; dumplings, egg rolls, spring rolls, soba noodles, and fortune cookies. There. That's the good part.

Second, if it was created here, it's either limp, underseasoned, bland, tasteless, luke warm, or filled with MSG and dye.

Please, save yourselves and go to Taco Villa instead. ...
