Not the best review but just being honest. Wayyyy overpriced food. Save your money. Not worth it for the price. The outdoor seating is nice made up some for the food. Has nice seating and different outdoor games for the kids. We had... fried jumbo shrimp- very very good. fried catfrish- tasted awful, my 6 yr old daughter & husband both said it tasted like creek water. Chicken Po Boy Sandwich- alright, chicken was very thin, hardly any dry and overcooked. Not worth almost 14$. fried Oysters- husband said they were nasty Fried Okra- So so. Not the best but not the worst. I've had better. fried pickles & ranch- very very good corn on the cob- bland & had weird taste. Hushpuppies: really good coleslaw- unique different flavor. good. Refreshing. Lemonade & sweet tea- good
I was going to get the chicken strips but after seeing some I asked abt them and the lady taking our order did not recommend them. She said they were just frozen in a bag chicken strips which is what they looked like. Appreciate the honesty.
We spent 70$ & we were all super let down.
It was our first meal, first restaurant, on our first time vacay in Hochatown and definitely will NOT be back to Shuck Me.
We were very very let down and disappointed. :( I normally would mention it if something wasn't good to give another chance or opportunity but when literally everything you ordered is not good you don't want to be those people.
We heard the crablegs were good later that evening from a girl at the place we...
Read moreI feel like I’m being generous giving 2 stars...my friends have raved about this joint in the past and I figured we would give it a try! Ordered 4 oysters/1 catfish, shrimp diablos, shrimp/crab gumbo, 2 drinks for $40...fair price. Sit down and in about 5 mins the food was already ready...sketch, but okay. The shrimp diablos (jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, shrimp and bacon) the jalapeños clearly weren’t cooked all the way and the inside was watery. Disappointing but i think that may have been the best part of this meal...the oysters and catfish with fries....LORD, i didn’t know that would be something you could mess up because it’s so easy..these fries...soggy af, cold, no seasoning...the fried oysters seemed like they weren’t cooked enough and watery, the catfish i don’t even know. But legit no seasoning. Awful..the gumbo was okay at first then you start getting towards the bottom of the soup and there was a weird bitter taste. Talk about a sad restaurant i won’t ever give a second chance. Gordon Ramsay would be totally disappointed, i feel like this is one of the restaurants that would be on kitchen nightmares. There’s not a ton of restaurants out here...so maybe that’s how it’s still surviving? Not understanding all of these 5 star reviews. Maybe we went...
Read moreWe arrived at 7 pm. Finally got a parking spot, walked up to the door, and it's locked. Their hours on the door say they close at 8 pm. Nothing else on the door stating they were closing early. We start to leave and then notice that people are getting in. So, we go back up to the door, and someone in line lets us in. We wait in line for almost 10 min. (Which is fine, we didn't mind) order our food. They are out of chicken, oysters, salmon, etc. We sit and wait for almost an hour for our food. Finally, get it, and I'm not sure if they used bad batter or if the food was spoiled or something in a fryer they used. But the fried fish, shrimp, and grilled fish all had a sour taste to it. I'm not a picky eater, and I'm not one to complain about food, but It was BAD! I did take mine back to the counter and got a refund. $15 for a fish basket (2 pieces of fish, fries, & 2 hushpuppies) The atmosphere was great. I loved the decor. There was no ice in either ice machine, and that area was a disaster. (Ice dumped everywhere, trash, sauce squirted on the counter, tables were all dirty. But the prices... they are ridiculous! For my basket and 2 kids' shrimp baskets, it was $50. They are basically an overpriced Long John Silvers. We...
