My wife and I stopped in for dinner for the first time a month ago after reading reviews online. This is the first Mexican restaurant in Pennsylvania that I truly felt a chef was thinking through how to develop thoughtful and innovative dishes. My wife had the duck breast special ($15.95) and I had Carnitas ($11.95). The duck was not only perfectly cooked (she ordered medium rare), but it had a marvelous sauce and very flavorful side dishes; not the usual rice and beans. The chef went to extra lengths by adding unusual garnishes in addition to seasoning the side very well. Regarding my Carnitas, which I have sampled at just about every Mexican restaurant in southern PA, it was an updated version with a dark sauce (unusual) that included nopalitos (cactus). It had as much flavor as many moles I have tried; wonderful. I would recommend Palacio if you are an aficionado of Mexican cuisine and want to try some of the best of the burbs.
