Pho Cali — Restaurant in Hockessin, Delaware

The food tastes great and the portions are very good. I used to have lunch here all the time but I stopped going because I wasn't happy with the hygienes. I tell you what happened: there is a Vietnamese waiter who doesn't speak much English (that's another problem) and he cleans up the tables and sometimes he picks up the food off the floor with his bare hands, and 5 minutes later you see him serving food (pho soup), again with his bare hands. I mentioned this to one of the main waiters and suggested that it would have been better if he wore gloves either when picking up the food off the floor or when serving it. Like I said, I used to go there all the time. So the following week I went there again and experienced the same thing. So I said something to the guy who is at the cashier (I believe he is the owner). He got angry with me and said "we don't have time for that!!" and he just turned away from me as if he didn't want to discuss the matter anymore. I cannot go to a place where the owner can speak angrily to a regular customer (I am not kidding, I used to go there every weekend, sometimes twice a week) who is concerned about the hyigenes and says they don't have time for that. You are running a restaurant, you MUST HAVE time for hyigenes. He mumbled something about the guy's washing his hand but quite frankly I don't want to see a waiter who is picking up food off the floor with bare hands, and then serving food 5 mins later. I was hungry for Pho today and when I saw that Pho Cali had 4.2 Star rating I was like ok and it was very close by. I've been to Pho Nhu Vu and vPho and I have enjoyed both but their Star rating was less than Pho Cali's 4.2 so I was exited to find even another place to get Pho. Well just because it has more Stars doesn't always mean better as I have found out. The restaurant is not the cleanest. Dirty dishes in a dish pan sit out near counter where you pay and or pick up carry out. Instead of getting a neatly wrapped individual set of utensils and chop sticks everything is simply in cups and dispensing trays at each table; made me a little concerned as to who before me has had their hands on any of my utensils? Then there is the food 🤔 Looking at the menu most things are taped out or crossed out meaning items are unavailable. I still went ahead and placed my order for my usual favorite rare beef Pho. (I am not one to walk out without giving a place a full chance unless they simply don't come to take my order then maybe) My Pho was less than stellar in flavor that makes Pho so amazing and the portion was small. UPDATE 12/1/2024 a bit later in this same day and they responded unexpectedly quickly. To the owner that responded, do not worry about refunding me unless you have already done so, again the food was good so I'd rather have my concerns addressed on my next visit, which will likely be next Sunday. I appreciate you reaching out to me, especially so soon on a Sunday.

original review first and last time here, 12/1/2024 unless they do something to resolve my issues. While what I received DID taste good, I paid 25 ish dollars total including a tip, even though I got my food to go ! What pisses me off about that is, the fact that 6 of those 25 dollars was for extra meatballs, not only did I not get them but there were only 2 (TWO!!!!!) quarter slices of meatball in the pho. I know they're sliced in quarters, I worked at a Vietnamese restaurant in Florida before. But to only give me a total of ONE HALF of a damn meatball when I paid SIX DOLLARS for extras really pisses me off. And while there was a decent amount of other meats, there was barely any broth or noodles !!!!! I'm beyond pissed off. Won't be back unless they reach out to me and make this right.
