China King — Restaurant in Hockessin, Delaware

China King is located in Gordy Plaza on the westbound side of Kirkwood Highway. However, there is a back entrance to the plaza from Farrand Drive. Parking seemed adequate, although the tavern crowd next door appears to fill up nearly all available parking on the side of the strip mall.

Overall, I'm impressed with the upkeep of this Chinese takeout. The dining area is clean and bright. Unlike most other Chinese takeouts, they have customer restrooms that are also reasonably clean. Service was decent too and I love that they cook everything to order. They do that too for the eggrolls, unlike some other Chinese takeouts where they pre-fry those.

The food seemed to be of good quality too. The General Tso's chicken was crunchy, even after the long trip home. The egg foo young wasn't bad either but here, the gravy made the difference. Really the only downside was the flat-tasting yellow fried rice. I think it could use some work but if you don't mind that, then China King...

I called to place my order. And I wasn't even rude or disrespectful. They have me on for 5 minutes. And then when the guy came to say something to me, he said oh, give me a minute when I try to explain in my order he pulled me over again. I waited another 5 minutes and then when he got back on the phone, he said what and then hung up on me. I. Called back multiple times to speak to somebody else. Because that man was rude and disrespectful. And I wasn't even saying, anything rude or disrespectful to him, I am a single mom and all I was trying to do is get food delivered, because I haven't eaten all day and I've been at work all day at a daycare and the first thing that he said was what and what do. You want and then hung up the phone on me? This place no deserve anybody's money because they don't want...

I wanted to take a minute and give a rave review of China King on Kirkwood Highway (in the shopping center with Goodwill and Sew What!).

Not only do they have good food, they are a wonderful family run business. The owner always remembers my family and Me. Our kids are the same age and he always remembers them and asks about them if they aren’t with me. You would think we order from there a lot- we actually don’t which is why it’s so special that he always remembers us or asks about our family.

Tonight, my son wanted a toy from the vending machines. I didn’t have any coins on me so the owner gave me some out of his drawer. (Don’t worry, I made sure to tip well on my order!)
