The Hubbs & I had the delight of stumbling upon JB's Downtown Grill on Saturday as we were driving through town around lunch time! This will be a "must go-to" for us from now, on. *Staff- Our server was very inviting and expressed how she loves working there because the food is something she can confidently stand behind! She explained how everything we ordered was made fresh from scratch by JB (although I'm sure he has to have some help in the kitchen đ) and unlike most Owner/Operators, he is almost ALWAYS present and she loves that. We ordered The Brum Burger with fries and the Crispy Fried Cod Sandwich with coleslaw, thinking we would swap half of our sandwich with the other so we could both try both meals. â ď¸WARNINGâ ď¸ THEY'RE GIGANTIC! *The Cod- PERFECTLY crispy, the pickles were a great add, tartar sauce creamy, lettuce fresh, and fresh hoagie. Best cod sandwich I think I have ever had so far. *The Coleslaw, simply cabbage & sauce, made me nostalgic because it tasted EXACTLY like my Grandma's. I'm picky about coleslaw! (I wish I knew how to make the sauce, my Grandma has passed on). *The Brum Burger- Oh. My. Gawd! It's the 2nd best burger I've had in my LIFE! Marinated tomatoes (I don't like tomatoes and I liked these!) yum, portobello mushroom divine (not big on mushrooms either!), burgerS-perfect medium-well, fresh lettuce, crispy pork belly (wasn't sure if I'd like that and I did!), and perfectly cooked onion ring tucked in there too. We got the smoked Gouda, good choice! *The Fries- very well seasoned, perfectly cooked! I forgot they had spicy ketchup, or I woulda tried it. Next time. *Over all, I ate about 1/4th-ish of the cod and the burger, half the coleslaw-ish, 1/2 the fries and I was stuffed! For the sheer volume of food that you get, it is VERY nicely priced! Atmosphere- old building, floors slant in the upper dining room, may be tricky for some that struggle with mobility or stability, but there is the lower dining-just in the front door that makes up for that. Restroom was clean and well-stocked. Friendly atmosphere, not too busy when we went at lunchtime. People all around us expressing how much they were enjoying their food; noises of, "mmm!" and verbal praises abound! Could use a little updating to some people's standards, but who cares when the food is so amazing!?! IN SUMMERY !YOU HAVE...
Read moreJB'S Downtown Grill is simply a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner. It's a downtown grill with sidewalk cafÊ seating if you choose the outdoors or you can enjoy the inside with it nostalgic atmosphere. Of course none of that matters if the menu is not inviting or the food is not up to your expectations. JB's to my enjoyment fulfills all of the requirements for a downtown sidewalk grill and that is what keeps us coming back.
Today, I forced myself to not order the Cuban sandwich which I seem to always order because it is excellent. I kept seeing the staff delivering other menu dishes to other patrons and the burgers always looked delicious. The thing is, I love burgers but the Cuban they make had a spell on me. Today I ordered the JB Classic Cheese Burger. It comes with several toppings but I chose marinated tomatoes, jalapeĂąo mayo, lettuce, and dill pickles on a toasted hogie roll. All burgers come with two 1/4 pound burgers served side by side. The beef is ground daily in the kitchen and all the other ingredients are fresh as well.
I take leaving reviews seriously because real life helpful info is the best way I know of to make informed purchases. The least I can do is be honest in hopes that it may help someone else.
JB'S Downtown Grill will not leave you disappointed. I will add that if you try the lemon blueberry cake it may leave...
Read moreI went to JB's Downtown Grill on Saturday, January 21st for lunch.. having never been there, I wasnât familiar with their menu. I have an autoimmune disease called Sjogrenâs that affects my mouth significantly making it impossible to eat any spices or strong flavors (bummer, cause I used to love them) and also went through full mouth construction not long ago.
I asked the server to suggest something that would not cause me issues and she was more than helpful (I wish I remembered her name)⌠anyway, it took a couple trips to the kitchen and she and the chef were so considerate of my situation, they were patient with all of my âuh, I canât do that oneâsâ and came up with a cheese quesadilla that would suit my individual needs⌠he even pulled some fresh veggies that hadnât been seasoned to add in so I wouldnât have any issues.. my food was hot, fresh and super tasty.
I was more than happy to spend my cash here and felt like I was treated like a member of their family.. not just someone that was there to eat and leave. I did also have the cheesy potato soup and took some lemon-blueberry cake home for later, and some hummingbird cake for my mama. It was divine!
I will definitely be back.. if you havenât tried JBâs, make sure to do it soon. There are so many great little shops nearby to visit also.. make...
