Rail House Grill & Billiards — Restaurant in Holland Charter Township

The atmosphere was decent. But, the service and food was not great. Including our table, there were only 10 average sized tables seated within the establishment. So, they were by no means busy. It took 10 minutes for a server to even approach our table. After a server came to our table, it took another 15 minutes before we recieved our drinks. The waters were sitting waiting to be taken to our table for so long, that the ice was almost completely melted! We were hoping that the food would make up for the slow service. But, unfortunately it did not. Both steaks were ordered medium. The outside of the steak was very well done, the inside was pink, it had no flavor, and was extremely difficult to cut with a STEAK knife. We were unable to eat a large portion of the steak due to the fact that it was extremely tough. The “sautéed mushrooms” that we added to the steaks were definitely not sautéed and had no flavor as well. I have never been so dissatisfied with a meal from a restaurant.Throughout our time at this restaurant, we gave them the benefit of the doubt multiple times hoping that the experience would get better. Overall, WAY overpriced for the quality of food that is served. I do not plan on visiting this restaurant again nor will I recommend this to restaurant after the experience that we endured. With downtown Holland too busy to grab lunch, we ventured out to the Rail House Grill. Upon being seated we had to wait a slightly annoying amount of time to be acknowledged by a server, it seemed there were only two running the entire restaurant. Ordered the sweet potato fries as an appetizer and they were very good, the best thing about our dining experience actually. Then after a substantial amount of time the waitress came and asked us if we wanted rolls while we wait for them to make a new batch of salad dressing for a side salad. I'm not sure why they didn't just do this without asking. A short time after that our food arrived. I ordered a steak salad that came on a bed of iceberg lettuce, not even close to what I would expect for a main entree on the menu. Also ordered was the rib/chicken dinner and ribs were overcooked.
