This place discriminates against people with service animals by forcing them to eat/ sit outside! THAT IS ILLEGAL according to the Federal Law!!! My Marine Corps veteran daughter and her boyfriend witnessed a young male employee do this to an 80 year old elderly married couple!!! Thank God I raised my daughter right and she spoke up for them and put this male employee in his place! The male employee told my daughter sarcastically, Does that look like a service animal?!" WOW! Talk about ignorant and uneducated at not schooled in the service animal/federal law regarding service animals. Wow what an ignorant employee. So he's gonna judge if someone is disabled or not based on the type of breed of dog that their service animal is? Wow!!! Discrimination 100%! I would say to you- if you've never been to this restaurant, stay away. For that reason. So, if you have a service animal. Please visit this establishment with your service animal. Make sure that you are videotaping BEFORE you walk into the establishment, VIDEO-TAPE EVERYTHING! And if they discriminate against you because you have a service animal and refuse to allow you to eat in the restaurant, please sue them for everything that they have and put this establishment out of business! But by reading the reviews I think they're doing that all by themselves. Over priced food. Food that isnt fresh. Small portions. Tasteless bland boring food. Young people that are employed there that could care less about customers and talk amongst themselves, forcing customers to wait to order. Rude and unpleasant employees! On top of the fact that they don't give a damn about the customers. My daughter only came here to get me a slice of gluten-free blueberry pie. After what she witness, she declined. And rightfully so. Disgusting employees -disgusting service! Treat people better. Especially elderly people and especially elderly people with a service animal.I'm looking forward to this place GOING OUT OF BUSINESS- editing my review your response to your reply. Clearly, you are ignorant and uneducated. Because if you knew anything about the federal law regarding the service animals. You would know, that no I is required by law! You do not to have to show any "proper identification" as you say. Asking people that are disabled service animals for identification is discrimination. Just like a person with a seeing eye dog for proper identification. That is discrimination once again. And the elderly couple that came into your establishment had a service animal not a pet. You're ignorant rude, rude and you are a liar.LIE LIE LIE LIE-my 28 year old Marine Corps veteran. Daughter was there and witnessed them telling your employee repeatedly it is a SERVICE ANIMAL! And, my daughter videotape the incident. You are nothing more than a liar here trying to backpedal to cover your tracks and uneducated, rude employee. To everyone reading this review. The owner is a liar, and she is rude and so is her young male employee that told the elderly couple that were about 80 years old with a SERVICE ANIMAL NOT A "PET"-that they cannot eat inside! this! is 100% fact and truthful. Please do your homework and read all the reviews on yelp and Google regarding this establishment seems like they have a lot of complaints from a lot of customers about their attitudes and the lack of quality and lack of flavor of the food and they're over pricing of a small quantity of food they serve . The owner reply to my Google and she is a liar. The elderly couple that came into the store dog. They have with them as a service animal and not a pet. The owner of this establishment is doing nothing but twisting the story and lying for her own benefit. Her young male, rude employee told the elderly couple with the service animal to eat outside my daughter a Veteran witness this, and took a video Do not go to this establishment do not waste your time Is she a liar, but they people with service animals and lie and say it was a pet that came into the store. Nothing but...

I have always heard rumors, but finally, truly experienced it first hand…

Sure, I’ve had the lackluster counter staff mentioned in other reviews, as well as witnessing and experiencing the owner Mary, being a bit snippy and off putting, but last night takes the cake! She was flat out rude and she seems to have no interest in being polite unless it serves her.

I’ll try to make it short.. My kids and I were out biking last night while Dad was at golf league. When we made it near town, the kids wanted to hit their favorite stores, so we parked the bikes and walked for awhile. It was getting close to dinner time, so I told the kids that we could eat out. We walked by a few places trying to decide what sounded good and what we could all agree on. I decided that I really wanted a sloppy Joe from Cranes, however, the kids wanted Jimmy John’s. I took them into Cranes thinking that I could convince them once we were in… no such luck. So I said, let’s go outside to discuss it, verses standing at the counter while I try to plead my case. On the way out, my Son declared he was SO thirsty! I told him to grab a cup of their self serve water; because when you’re small and thirst hits, you need to quench it in that moment! All Moms know this, right? Not to mention, some of us were hangry and on the verge of a meltdown! So sure, grab a glass of the free water.

As we’re walking out, I notice a woman behind the boys, so I hold the door open for her, thinking she’s leaving as well. No, It’s the owner and she then proceeds to follow us out and stops us. She says, “excuse me, did you purchase anything?” All while giving the most disapproving face anyone could make. I clearly said no, not yet, and asked why? * Me, genuinely curious, and completely oblivious to the fact that she could possibly be upset by a child getting a glass of water* She then states, “water is supposed to be for paying customers only!!” While continuing on with her look of disapproval and disgust. She then turns away and goes back inside. My Boys and I were dumbfound and I was highly embarrassed. Did she seriously just follow us outside as if we stole something, all because my son took a small glass of water? Water that was out in the open for consumption, water that’s self serve, water that has NO sign stating, “you may only have a glass if you make a purchase”! Come on lady! Have a sense of kindness and community at the very least!

As a fairly frequent customer for YEARS, (despite my husbands complaints that Cranes is highly overpriced), I am shocked and saddened by this. MAYBE I could rationalize this had we walked in solely for the free water for my son, or if I, as adult helped myself, but a thirsty child? Give me a break and have some grace.

I don’t often take to bad reviews, but after no reply to a private message to the owner, here we are. As I read the other negative reviews, as you can too, I see this behavior isn’t an isolated incident.

As a small town business owner in a close knit community, please do...

The employees here look like they hate their life, we brought family in from out of the country because they wanted to try Apple pie, so we thought this would be the perfect place for lunch. Worst experience, when we ordered the person taking the order missed one of the sandwiches, hey mistakes happen. We get that, but because we had already bothered the waitress for ketchup and mustard for the hotdogs (she was completely annoyed by this request) we were not asked what we would like on them when we ordered. She was even more displeased when we brought to her attention the missing sandwich; the roll of her eyes and huff said it all. She went to the kitchen, came back, and told us umm, you never ordered that. We asked if she could put the order in for us since we had already waited in line for 10 + minutes; she very snottily said no, you can get up and get back in line yourself. So I did; I wasn't going to let my elderly mom do it; when I finally got to the front of the line, I asked for her name so that I could later address the issue. They refused to tell me and said they would just handle it. They definitely said something to her because she made a point of running into my chair when she walked past the table that we were at. There was, however, one kind man who was working who thanked me for bussing our table and seemed to be the only professional person there. From our visit...
