Pulling up to the hotel I had high hopes, especially with the cost. However, upon walking in I was greeted with the smell of burning pizza and the disappointment only grew. As you walk thrive the hotel you see a lack of maintenance and care. Dents on elevator doors, damaged walls from luggage, exposed drywall corners, and what feels like cheap plastic floor tiling that makes your luggage wheels create a strange noise as you walk down a dimly lit hall that is trying to set a mood but missing the mark.
I had booked a double queen room for the extra space and what I got was something that only an interior design dropout or a "they don't understand my genius" idiot would have produced. The beds were in line with each other in an unorthodox way and facing away from each other with the heads in the middle. TVs mounted at the foot of the beds and no where else. The walkway from the bathroom to the room is tight and of poor design. I promptly switched rooms to a king.
I was greeted by a faint smell of cloves when I walked into the new room. The styling of the king room was old fashioned but modern, elegant in its simplicity, but with strange touches. The sink was...different. The shower is raised and open with no lip to stop water, instead relying on a generous slope to keep from overflowing. There is no bathroom floor drain with this design, so should it overflow there is no where for the water to go and lots of towels will be needed. Thankfully I had no issues with the water.
The bed felt plush but worn out. Chair and couch look supportive but you fell like you are sinking to the floor when sitting in them. TV is very dated and undersized for the room. Mini fridge is incredibly tiny and awkwardly placed on the floor. The higher end chain resistance to microwaves continues... The curtains were panel curtains not linked together and required the adjustment of 5 individual panels to block out the light.
Sounds travels between floors despite being concrete as I heard could hear the tell tale signs of relations being had above me. I had to turn up the TV to drown it out. Which, due to a lack of acoustic treatments caused a lot of echoing and standing waves.
Going down in the morning I was immediately greeted the smell of burning pizza in the elevator. It got worse in the lobby, and no pizza was being made. I think it's a permanent smell from the attached 1847 Lounge that's built in with no real delineation from the hotel itself.
Oh, and the tradition of no vending in the vending area continues. I have not seen a vending machine in the vending area of a hotel in the US in years. I'm usually lucky to see an ice machine.
Overall, I would not stay here again. This might be an okay place for those who don't know better, but I do. I've seen far better for the price and within the...
Read moreWe just got married in July and had our wedding reception and hotel stay there. Pros: Ballroom was perfect for our small reception (76 people) and has gorgeous views overlooking downtown Holland. Loved having a white dancefloor. Loved that the lights change colors. Our honeymoon suite was massive and had a huge soaker tub that accommodated the both of us. Cons: Small dancefloor that cannot be placed elsewhere. Sliding glass "doors" that aren't very private in the hotel rooms which also making taking a shower a very cold experience. 500 light switches that are confusing to figure out in the hotel rooms. A user unfriendly thermostat. Staff that I worked with was not very friendly and didn't seem genuine or that they cared about our wants and needs. No matter how many times I mentioned that the vegetables needed to be thoroughly cooked and soft for the dinner, they were not! They were nearly raw! My mother made mention to it to a staff member and she specifically got told that she "didn't know what fine dining was!" How incredibly rude! That person needs to get fired! Our Hoison glazed beef brisket was extremely overcooked and many of us couldn't even eat it let alone cut into it! The salad that I was served was the smallest salad I've ever seen and wasn't like that when we did the tasting. I only got a couple leaves. Many of our guests came up to me and told me that the staff took many pieces of my cake and brought them to the kitchen for themselves! I was told that I couldn't decorate at the time I needed to (at first) because the event coordinator wasn't going to be there to answer any questions...(ummm we just wanted to decorate.) Finally she looked on her calendar and said "oh actually I am going to be there" after my stress and panic that I wasn't going to have time to decorate.
Conclusion: If you want a beautiful ballroom with a view and a huge master suite, it's great. But don't go expecting friendly staff that care...
Read moreI would give him 0 stars if I could. PLEASE, do not go to this oral surgeon. I have limited insurance and I didn't have many options, but if I could go back in time I would rather pay the money out of pocket and get the surgery with someone else. I have had multiple problems since my extraction and Dr. Kashmanian refused to see me or talk to me after 2 weeks - even when I told the office I was still in excruciating pain and thought I had an infection because I could feel pus coming out (I later went somewhere else and found out I did have an infection). Dr. Kashmanian had the nerve to tell me that I "just have low pain tolerance". I've had to go to other dentists and pay out of pocket for all my services which is in the hundreds now. I have been in excruciating pain since the surgery over 6 weeks ago and have had reoccuring infections. We are still in the process of trying to figure out what is going on, but it is on hold because I can't afford it out of pocket right now. So I have to just deal with the pain until I can pay for it, because my own oral surgeon refuses to treat a patient whom he did surgery on. It has been an extremely difficult 6 weeks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Every oral surgeon's office I have spoken with has told me that it is unheard of for an oral surgeon to not see a patient after surgery.
I hope that this post can save another person from going through what I am going through. I'm not saying everyone will have all these complications, but if it happens, you deserve to have an oral surgeon that is caring and willing to help you throughout the process, and Dr. Kashmanian is not that oral surgeon. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. Don't let insurance limit your options. Surgery is a huge process and take it from someone who has had the worst experience, it is worth checking out the surgeon beforehand and...
