I'm not normally a person to leave reviews, but after my second negative experience, I feel inclined to share. The coffee, atmosphere, and food are all great! However, a staff member named Hailey (not sure if I spelled it right) has been very rude and condescending to me BOTH times I've been there. As a freelance business owner and stay at home mom, I go downtown for coffee often. The other coffee spots like Bowerman's and 205 have exuberant staff that are always inviting and friendly. Very different experience from this place unfortunately, all due to one staff member. My first experience, I was there with my sister and ordered us each an iced latte, one with oat and one with regular milk. When our names were called, we called over (Hailey) to clarify, which was which so we did not get them mixed up and she responded in a strange, condescending tone making us feel like we were asking a really dumb question, but it was our first time there and we just didn't know how they labeled them. She was not friendly or smiling at all. We left feeling very off and unwelcome there. My second experience there, I was out with a friend. I ordered a croissant and iced coffee. I heard my name called and walk up to the counter where I see my name on the receipt tab under my croissant bag, and immediately next to my croissant bag was an iced coffee. I grabbed both and sat to wait for my friend. I see (Hailey) and another guest looking over at me with disappointed expressions. I walk over to ask what's going on. She said I took the wrong coffee, again, in a rude condescending tone. Embarrassed, I say "oh I'm so sorry" and explain that I heard my name and grabbed my items. She says it was just for the croissants and not the coffee. She then proceeds to say in a very dramatic, demeaning tone and matching facial expression and hand gestures.."yeah because you took a coffee...that was on a receipt...that wasn't yours!” In front of other guests. Even more embarrassed, I apologize again, hand over the coffee that wasn't mine and sit down to wait for my order. It was an honest mistake and she made me feel like I was a complete idiot in front of everybody. I understand I was in the wrong, but instead of making me feel belittled, a professional would shake it off like it's no problem with a smile on their face and make a new one for the other guest and move right along without making a big deal of it. She was acting like I tried to steal the coffee. Very immature and bad hospitality on her part. My friend, sister and I agreed we would not be back and we have shared our experience with many others as well. All this to say, treat everyone with respect. You never know what's going on in someone's life. The least you can do (especially in the hospitality/restaurant business) is treat others with compassion...
Read moreI decided to try something new and went to Foxtail for the first time today. I walked in and was impressed by the atmosphere but everything else was disappointing. Given it was my first time and there was no line to order I asked what was popular to drink and was told a carmel latte. Given there is such a large menu I was hoping for something unique to foxtail but I figured maybe they were known for their iced carmel lattes or something. I also ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I got the latte and it was just below average. The expresso tasted burnt and the drink was somehow already quite watered down after picking it up as soon as they called my name. I then waited for my bagel for over 30 mins as a staff of 5 people just stood behind the counter taking a few orders every now and then. Given there was no line when I entered and people came and went they clearly forgot about it. I went up and asked for a status and the barista said it was coming. 2 mins later I got my bagel but it wasn't even toasted. It looked like it was warmed for like 30 secs and was completely soft still no signs of toasting at all. Clearly it was forgotten about and they were rushing to just get it out without any care being put into it. Mistakes happen however its frustrating that the staff didnt own up to it and instead acted like it was normal. Toasting a bagel doesnt take over 30 mins. The staff in general seemed uninterested in their job and didn't create a very welcoming environment. At this point I gave up ate the bagel and left. I reccomend going to Lemonjellos or 205 for an overall better experience. I don't think I will be coming back due to such a poor first time experience. I really think this could be a 5 star place but there should be better staffing training on customer service and how to make iced lattes without sacrificing...
Read moreWe were visiting Holland, MI on a 2 day road trip and I wanted to stop somewhere to get a coffee. One of the staff did warn us it would be a 20 min wait but I figured they meant if we were ordering food. It was super busy when we went (Sunday mid-day) not sure if that is typical or just happened to be the case while we visited. All the tables were full with people enjoying their coffee/meals. I got an Amaretto Iced Latte and a chocolate croissant to go. The coffee was amazing great flavour while still being bold coffee. You know how some places when you get an iced coffee/drink it's kind of watered down? That was not the case here..it was very flavourful and bold. The croissant was good but not my favourite, there was a fruity note that reminded me of fruit cake..maybe it was chocolate orange flavoured or something. I'm not a big orange fan so it wasn't for me but it was different and I like trying new things so no regrets. The staff there were friendly, I like that they let us know there was going to be a wait. Some places don't say anything and people get so angry. We were on vacation mode and had nowhere to be so I didn't mind the wait. Would definitely recommend to try this place if you're in the area. They also...
